Stoner doom usually has bluesy riffs, a sense of humor or playfulness in some aspect, slow rhythmic or tribal drumming and sounds noticeably more overdriven/amorphous than "true" doom. They're really fucking similar a lot of the time, but stoner doom is usually more obscure and hard to get into.

Well, they do count. Most Stoner Rock I listen to is basically...Black Sabbath v.9001.

Though Stoner Rock isn't stoner doom...and most of Cathedral's 'stoner' styled stuff is hardly doom metal.
