Doom Metal

Goatsnake anyone? Traditional Doom with fucking killer guitar riffage. Great lead vocalist. I found their Dog Day + 1 first album plus ep at a garage sale for 5 bucks!! Over 75 minutes of trad doom. Pete Stahl is the vocalist(Lunatics on Parole)and Greg Anderson-guitarist(Sunn O, Burning Witch). Worth checking out.

i like their stuff. ive got the tampled under hoof ep, dog days +1 and flower of disease. probably the best band these guys were involved with, along with thorrs hammer and the obsessed

If you like doom and it's various sub-genres, You'll have a lot to explore, It's probably my favorite metal genre. Just in case; bands I really like-Esoteric, Mournful Congregation, Skepticism, Warning, Mar de Grises and Candlemass, Solitude Aeternus, Trouble, Mourning Beloveth, My Dying Bride and Evoken. Most are funeral(extreme doom) and Traditional, epic doom. Many more to list.

I'd say more stoner doom, but whatever. Flower of Disease is fantastic.

Well I couldn't find Nightfall at the store today, but they had Tales of Creation on sale, and it does not disappoint one bit!

candlemass have one of the most consistent discographies in history, hard to go wrong. my top 3 are epicus, nightfall and tales of creation in that order i reckon, but ancient dreams, chapter vi, even the s/t, all great. i even like from the 13th sun although it doesn't have all that much replay value. i haven't heard dactylis glomerata or the really recent stuff.

Epicus
Nightfall
Tales
Ancient.

I like the latest two and am not into their middle albums at all.

Not including the first four, Chapter VI is the best. Dactylis Glomerata is ok, but pretty forgettable. The self-titled is definitely the best of the post reunion material.

I disagree, the self-titled is easily the second weakest, behind only Dactylis Glomerata. Chapter VI is absolutely fabulous and extremely underrated, From The 13th Sun is similarly great with its bludgeoning Sabbathy riffs, and the newest one is really a breath of fresh air for a band I believed had grown stagnant. Although I still attest that I'm not overly fond of Lowe's performing of old songs.
