Actually, here is a preliminary design for a more conservative body. I'm going to cut out a prototype soon and I may be tweaking it a bit:

Awesome, looks great.

Ideally I would like mini fretboard dots centered and an inline headstock. Is this possible?

Sorry I haven't had time to post a lot of pictures of this thing, my workshop time has been getting cut short here lately so I use it as efficiently as I can.

Over the next couple days I'll be fitting the neck and starting on the carving. Hope to be done with this in a couple weeks.

I really like the look of this fretboard...what wood is it and what are the differences in feel/tone compared to the standard rosewood?

It's birdseye maple. Maple is generally a little brighter sounding than rosewood.

It's a lot tighter grained than rosewood, it feels smoother - similar to ebony. But it will get dirty easily - it needs to have a finish of some sort on it.

Jeff's guitar is getting oiled, and that will bring out the figuring in the board that much more.
