People always connect Enslaved to black metal because of the vocals but outside of stuff like Frost, I really think they sound more like viking metal in every way. Especially Below the Lights. Those are great picks though, love all those except the 2nd blut aus nord one, which I haven't heard, but I've heard good things about.

Doesn't Viking Metal simply denote lyrical content rather than musical style? Amon Amarth is viking metal but it doesn't sound like Enslaved at all.

Amon Amarth is really melodic death with lyrical themes of norse mythology. Viking metal is actually a genre.

If by an actual genre you mean 'folk metal with lyrical themes of norse mythology' than yes, yes it is. But I agree about Enslaved. They haven't been purely black metal for a long time - I'd also say some of their riffing style is still 'blackened' but like the vocals, it hardly makes it black metal. Enslaved are great by the way.

I don't listen to much bm, so my top five list consists of Deathspell Omega, but I'll try to think of others.

Deathspell Omega - Fas
Weakling
Enslaved - Below the Lights
WitTR - Diadem of 12 Stars
Cradle of Filth - Dusk and Her Embrace

Negura Bunget - OM
