Favorite 5 Black Metal Albums

I'm not a huge blackmetal guy, so I haven't got anything beyond the usual suspects:

Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky
Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
Arcturus - Aspera Heim Symfonia
Enslaved - Monumension

1. Wolves In The Throne Room - Diadem of Twelve Stars
2. Taake - Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik
3. Melechesh - Emissaries
4. Shining - IV The Eerie Cold
5. Enslavement of Beauty - Megalomania

I had a few others on there, but I chose these because they were my favorite and they fit the "Black Metal" label better than the others...

This is a great topic, I'm finding tons of new stuff. Keep it going guys!

I shall good sir! We shall see what I think of it.

I just listened to Om yesterday and it was quite awesome, so maybe I'm in the mood for some more Black Metal!

Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Shining - IV: The Eerie Cold
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum
Silencer - Death, Pierce Me
Gris - Il Était Une Forêt...

No love for Nachtmystium, and their crushing album 'Assassins: Black Meddle, Part 1'?
That was on constant rotation for me for months, and I don't even like black metal

^ Which is probably why you liked Nachtmystium. The album is a great album, but I'm not sure if it is black metal. I got more of a dark industrial feel out of it.

1. Drudkh- Blood in Our Wells
2. Wolves in the Throne Room- Two Hunters
3. Drudkh- Autumn Aurora
4. Drudkh- Forgotten Legends
5. Ulver- Bergtatt

I love the album but it really isn't a black metal album. I dont even know what you'd call it, but it only contains elements of black metal - it's not full out bm.

Any of the emperor albums, especially in the nightside eclipse. That one is simply amazing. Its hard to get much better than that.

Also the early bathory albums, especially the return. They are a favorite of mine.
