I still think Final Fantasy VII is the best game of all-time. Like many others have stated, no other game has ever captivated me like this one...although I happen to love all of the Final Fantasy games except the first one and Mystic Quest.
Some other favorite of mine include:

-Chrono Trigger(SNES) and Chrono Cross(PS1)
-Star Ocean: The Second Story(PS1): If you haven't played this highly underrated RPG, you must do so now!
-The Legend of Dragoon(PS1): Another underrated RPG.
-Metal Gear Solid(PS1)
-Super Metroid(SNES)
-Silent Hill(PS1): REALLY creepy addictive game.
-Resident Evil Series
-Alone in the Dark Series
-Hook(SNES)
-Mega Man-X(SNES)

EverQuest... Final Fantasy 7... Xenogears. Those are the only games that I feel are worth playing a lot.
