Guesses - New SymX CD

Metallica? Stupid lyrics? Have you ever heard 'Master of Puppets'?

Yeah, I have, and I was unimpressed, lyrically speaking.

There are only a VERY few songs of Metallica's that I care about the lyrics. "One" is the one that sticks out in my mind.

What do you predict the new CD will be? What direction do you think they will take? Not a "what you would like thread", but what you think may come about.

I predict a more symphonic keyboard sound overall....very heavy but melodic songs, a combination of "V" and "DWOT".

I am drooling at that thought Pharoah!

Is it even possible for them to make a combination like that? Well, SyX,......yeah! But will they? I can only hope and pray because that would be my dream SyX album, and prob my dream album in general. Like many others I am scared from what Romeo said about being a more straight forward album like The Odyssey but even heavier. I mean, I like The Odyssey as being a more heavy set of songs, but, there was not enough progressive moments overall. Having a more in your face heavy song is great every once in a while, and with The Odyssey being almost all in your face tracks I would have hoped that they got their in your face song type of moods out of their systems.
Like others have said, if I wanted all of my music constantly really heavy and more in your face then I would not be listening to SyX in the first place. I like that they can do it and deliver it every once in a while (like maybe one or two tracks of an album), but I don't want to be cheated on the great progressiveness and production value that brought SyX to be my favorite band in the first place.

I just want one that sounds as different from the Odyssey as humanly possible. :yuk:
Odds are that won't happen so I'm more looking forward to Russell Allen's solo album. :headbang:

I prefer more progressive than heavy. I also want more acoustic guitar stuff.

Me too. I wouldnt mind another Oddyssy album, aslong as it had tracks upto the quality and beauty of the title track...

I predict the next Syx CD to be just like Michale Romeo said. Less epic, more straight forward, reduced keyboards (maybe more FX-like than symphonic) with songs of 6-10 minutes and a more modern production.
Hell, they even might try to expiriment with dropped tunings on the guitars. In every case I'm convinced it will be a cool piece of music. So I'm really looking forward to it, no matter what will come our way.

Waht they definitely shouldn't do is including some guest rappers, or call it "Truck of Mind" or so. :p

I THINK it will be heavier with less progressive elemants. Like one step further in the direction the took with The Odyssey.

I WOULD LIKE it to be more like their neoclassical and progressive albums, ie Divine Wings, Damnation Game and Twilight.

The will probably just continue as they have done, to write a new, fresh and original album everytime. That's the great thing with this band, I like all of their albums equally (well, almost...) even though they're so different.

OK, it appears I've managed to offend a bunch of people with the symphony remark...at risk of looking even worse, exactly why is that idea so horrible? :erk:
It's not horrible per se, but looking at the stuff most Metal bands make when they invite an orchestra into the studio, Symphony X better stick with programmed stuff courtesy of Romeo and classical keyboards by Pinnella.

I think that the new album will be heavier, but the music will be highly influenced by keyboards.

I hope they do so. :)

Unfortunatly I see The Odyssey as Symphony X's "The Black Album". Simpler than their previous releases, yet a great album. In an interview one of the band members (Romeo?) said that with The Odyssey there was a drastic sales increase so they're going to continue that style. Which is alittle unnerving, becuase everyone knows what happens after "The Black Album''. . . :yow:

I don't really know if you're being serious here but that's a good load of bull$h!t :D.

To all the people that think a real orchestra isn't a good idea: why not? Underworld was awesome with the real orchestra, so I don't see why Symphony X couldn't pull that off.

It's not a horrible idea; Romeo has said many times that he would love for the band to play with a full orchestra, but the cost of doing so is prohibitive.

When Adagio made Underworld they did not use a real orchestra, their budget was limited, so they only paid for a real choir.

If SymphonyX want to record with a real orchestra i hope they only use it in one or two into songs like Kamelots "Regalis Apertura", but as Lady said that is too expensive.

This is very unnerving indeed. When I read that they are going to write what "sells" literally made my stomach turn. It's nice to see them be successful, but why do so at the expense of their unique sound we know and love?
