Guitar Player's Thread

^Now he's using Engl though, and I think his tone has improved, from what I can hear on the Graspop bootleg. Wasn't bad before, but I think that playing with those bronze picks somehow fucks up his tone, anyone thinks the same?

How the fuck do you see any difference between the tones dude? Live perhaps, but on the albums? Live he does sound better since he changed to Engl, but mostly is that he's a bit tighter than Alexi, which I guess goes because he doesn't have to sing (although his backing vocals are fucking awesome ). Alexi's playing really changes from when he's singing to when he's not. Although I think having his guitar a bit higher would help. I know it has been discused, but after the injury and after Blooddrunk he increased the height from the AYDY and he did play much tighter.

hmmm
in terms ov tone, I was referring to when they play solos (how the hell can you tell in rhythms?), I just think Roope's sound better.
Maybe it's just the way he plays though, idk

I got bored today and recorded a cover. Unfortunately I totally raped the Bridge section.

The song is Divine Heresy - Failed Creation.

Originally was supposed to be only a tonetest but oh well. I really like the outro and the somekinda interlude or something leads.

Tone is raw, no effects or added post-EQ. All from my toneport and pod farm software. The drums are DKFH and only some minor EQ. Going to tweak this further when i can get some bass into it too.

He uses brass picks  but I'm not nit picking. I have to try some of them to find out, they may not fuck up your tone but they will definately fuck up your guitar!

Sorry, I fucked up the names, but anywa, metal picks. I think they make him sound like if he was playing all in harmonics with a wah. Kinda like when you set "Guitar harmonics" on GP  Maybe it's just me, but that's what I think from hearing live versions of the songs with Roope. Tight playing, but kinda fucked up tone.

"FAILED-CRE-AT-TION" *blastblastblastblastblast*

The drummer Tim Yeung, is actually from my hometown. My drummer is a big fan of him and onetime when he was back visiting Rochester, my drummer contacted him and he came to his house and gave him a drum lesson. (I think Tim wanted to actually teach him stuff and give him a good drum lesson but he was just like "ahh man play dechristianize! on my drum set" )

Speaking of drums, I've been getting really into jamming on my drums when I have free time during the day, I'd say within even the past few weeks I can definitely see a difference in my drumming! I've got the fast cliche metal fills DOWN! I need to get good at fast double bass though, I guess I'll just play along to some power metal to build up my endurance

I want to make some drumming videos to track my progress from week to week but it clips the mic on my digital camera and sounds awful :(
