isnt that the band where they give a million zelda swords to the crowd

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's them.
They did an awesome album called "Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man".
Its fun goofy shit, as mentioned, but gets old quick imo. Good for generic lolshredding and pure nostalgia.

Also agreed with COB, I dislike thin picks.
I stole a 3mm Dunlop Stubby from my friend to try it, and I wont give it back. I can't play with anything else now.

Pretty much the same scenario here. They are a blessing but also a curse, I'm caught off guard without a 3mm I cant play for shit. Sweeps just feel so wrong.

3mm?
shit, I used to use a 1.14 mm, thought that was thick

Should probably also mention that I'm fucking terrible.
I'm used to thick as I play bass, and the only picks I had around when i started guitar where thickass ones music stores would give me thinking I'd use them. I started with a 1.3mm since using a giant 3mm one was just silly, but then I just found and stole the 3mm stubby :p.

I'd go for less, but I'd rather not take 2 busses to the other music store when I can walk 5min to the shitty one.

Jim Dunlop H3? I use those too.

That one. Don't know if that's the H3.

I can't use picks like that...

I burn them down way too quick.
That's why I like the jazz3 so much also, because it's a bitch to wear them down.

I've got a few jazz's that i've had over a year and still work great.:)

"FAILED-CRE-AT-TION" *blastblastblastblastblast*

The drummer Tim Yeung, is actually from my hometown. My drummer is a big fan of him and onetime when he was back visiting Rochester, my drummer contacted him and he came to his house and gave him a drum lesson. (I think Tim wanted to actually teach him stuff and give him a good drum lesson but he was just like "ahh man play dechristianize! on my drum set" )

Speaking of drums, I've been getting really into jamming on my drums when I have free time during the day, I'd say within even the past few weeks I can definitely see a difference in my drumming! I've got the fast cliche metal fills DOWN! I need to get good at fast double bass though, I guess I'll just play along to some power metal to build up my endurance

I want to make some drumming videos to track my progress from week to week but it clips the mic on my digital camera and sounds awful :(

:lol::lol::lol:

Well, jamming with Tim Yeung being could be REALLY intimidating...a guy at his level is just. Woah! Awesome that he really came lol. Well, Divine Heresy is pretty awesome...the new stuff is going to kick ass.

Yeah, you should try doing that video-diary thing. It will really give a motivation boost when you've played another year or something and start thinking "man i suck." just browse the earleir videos and see difference. It was encouraging me alot on guitar too.
I wish i could start drumming, only thing i can do for that is to get a electric-drumset which supposedly won't give the same feel and will have me take more time to learn and adapt to a acoustic set.

Yea they like only last for a week here. But I always buy tons of them when I'm in the music shop  They just play so damn good.
But I should try those jazz 3 picks.

they definitely make a difference.

I started out with fender mediums and things similar to that, then i moved down to the small purple tortex picks because i liked not having to adjust while i was playing so much.

The only problem was them wearing down, and one day i just got a jazz 3 just to try. Now I can't really play with anything else nearly as well.

Honestly I dont like the Jazz 3's at all for several reasons. I dont like nylon or the stiffo stuff because it slips way too easily in sweaty fingers, and they are just too damn small to hold comfortably.

I use the standard 1mm tortex picks, but I use sandpaper and shape them like this:

Big enough to hold comfortably, tortex doesnt slip, pointy enough to play fast and clean :) I just wish they would produce picks like that so I wouldnt have to keep shaping them myself...

How much?

You deffinitely should. If you don't like, nothing happens (it takes a bit to get used because of the size), but they're awesome for fast playing and playing in general, plus having such a small pick kind of pushes you to be tighter and more accurate while playing me thinks.

You should try the Jazz III XL then. They're like the Jazz III but bigger. Or Ultex Sharp. Give this ones a look (if what you want is a sharp pick with better grip than the normal Jazz III):

Jazz III XL

Eric Johnson Jazz III

Max grip Jazz III

Ultex Sharp
