Guitar Player's Thread

I have tried quite a few sets of them in my beginner days because they are cheap.

Snapsnapsnapsnapsnap

Lol. Well okay, they're not cheaper than any other brand of strings over here (in Denmark that is) and they sound well - plust they should be consistant in size (unlike Ernie Ball). You might have snapped them often due to bad technique earlier tho? That happened to me too alot when I was just starting out.

I really can't imagine them being very cheap. I mean there are some really horrible brands that all buy their strings from the same cheap ass factory. But Rotosound makes their own strings as far as I'm concerned

edit: when talking about strings and faces: I've had quite a few e strings (both thick and thin) snap into my face back when I used D'Addarios. God, I just can't play those strings. I mean, I can but they sound terrible.

Yeah could have been my technique.

What do you mean by the Ernie Ball comment in size?

that if you buy a set of 10s the size and therefore the tension that the strings create aren't always the same - which means I had to readjust my guitar quite a few times (read - almost everytime I changed strings).

i always re-adjust my guitar during a string change, wether it needs it or not, pick it apart and clean it, and then put it back together and set it up all over again. Good practice and makes sure my guitars last longer, as they arent the highest quality :/

Yup, I sold my Lee Jackson and my Marshall DSL and got a buttload of cash to buy a new amp and new desktop for recording.
I still have a Peavey classic 1x12 combo that is real convenient and sounds real sweet (especially with a tube screamer!)

Cant wait for the e530! It's got a lot of great features. One extra thing that seems real cool to me is that it has a built-in mini poweramp that can power a cab by itself pretty loud from what I've heard!

I'm really excited though. I haven't had an amp that can do good metal tones without an overdrive or something else since I owned a Mesa Recto, and even then I wasn't really digging the character of the Recto's tone so I think this will be the first amp that I'm really happy with.

Plus its going to be a beast for recording direct with impulses
You're not going to regret. The E530 is an awesome preamp for the money and it sounds great! I think its the next thing im going to buy when i have money.

I also do that

I <3 my guitars.

I would chop off my left nut for Nazgul's gear :worship:

And question for you more experienced people in songmaking.

I'm trying to get my COBOT Album track's volume as high as I can get it without clipping. I have understood that you can use compressors/limiters for this. But I have almost no idea how they work, and my end result is either..

-Too "compressed" i.e not punchy enough
-Too low
-Too high, resulting in clipping
-When parts in the song with only one instrument gets abnormally higher than it was when it's played alone. Then goes back to low volume when everything kicks in.

Got any tips? Would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to learn how to do this:)

just because i'm bored. I have gp1000, sp1000, rsp2400 and a couple of 80s jackson custom USA RRs. :p

What's RSP2400?

^this is all old news, respectable members know that nazgul has the best guitar collection on the board

Indeed. And has sold some guitars that we'd sell our souls to own

but you forgot to add that i'm also the worst guitarist on this board too. I pretty much quit playing guitar. I pick it up maybe 2 times a week and just noodle around a bit.

WTF? How came? It'd be a shame to have all that gear just lying around :ill:
