Guitar Player's Thread

So why does Alexi have long hair than? I thought it might be from his influences WASP, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Stone, you know all those guys with long hair? And I hate the strat shape cus it is more uncomfortable to play on left knee cus of no cutout for right leg, and the Rhoads shape looks more badass IMO. Oh and I thought everyone here liked Bodom cus I got this confused with the Bodom tab thread :s whoops

The 90's was seriously an incredible period of time as far as creativity of music, tv shows, most art everywhere really. I'm not really sure what happened, but these days it just seems like most composers/writers hardly put any effort into making genuinely good material, most of it is generic-sounding and ripped off in more ways than necessary. There is still great art being produced of crouse--Pixar comes to mind--however I think about this very thing all the time so I can relate to the old video game music reigning as champion.

Ok guys, so I got that 5150 (it turned out not to be a II, but that's ok with me)

Problem is, it's loud as fuck. Which should be obvious to me, since it's a 5150, but I'm only worried (read: paranoid) about it being super hearable by my neighbors (I live in an apartment). So I didn't know if anyone had experience with knowing how loud it really is beyond most walls, and not just right in front of you.

I also remember someone (I think it was Alex, to vikk) explaining how to record direct-in with an amp head (I would have a POD ux1 and POD farm to use). I don't know if that would require the cab for that. Was wondering how that works...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

5150 FTW!!!

yeah, trust me you'll be satisfied and well content with it not being a II, although i'd like to pick up a II someday just to have both.

yes...its a loud motherfucker....thats the bitch about 100w+ tube head amps, there meant to be cranked and dont sound good at low volumes.
it definitely could pose a problem with neighbors, id be careful, watch what hours you play, and if your upstairs the bass/rumbly is gonna kill the downstairs folks. there are power attenuators and the like that make it much quieter but still the drive the tubes just as hard so it sounds good

Thanks dude, I'm super excited too. :)

And yeah, I was thinking about an attenuator. I've heard they suck tone, but I can deal with that if it means not getting any complaints. Don't know anything else about them, though. I've seen them vary a lot in price, so I have no idea what to go for/bother with.

I heard this yesterday live in a church where Bach used to perform his pieces. You could make a whole Something Wild out of this piece.
