Guitar Player's Thread

I checked some music gear webstores and it looks like for attenuators there are cheap ones for about 100 USD and then the "THD Hotplate" for 300 USD, which is a lot for me since the 5150 left me pretty broke. Not sure what to do.

Anyway, Toccata & Fugue in D minor always reminds me of Fantasia since childhood.

i dunno, i have heard many bad things about hotplates/attenuators. just see how it works out for now, you could even just get a 2 x 12 cab or something, that would help

Like what? All I've heard bad was about losing some tone. Is there anything else? And yeah, I could get a 2x12. I wonder how much more quiet that would be...

Also, on the topic of classical music

Thanks!, I'll probably use this as I need a new guitar strap

ohhh thanks for reminding me! I've been thinking of getting a leather strap for my xiphos cuz it has that stupid balance problem. so if the balancing is better with a leather strap, I might not need to drill a new hole in it.

Hey guys, I've mentioned it before that I'm designing/building my own custom tube preamp, but now I've actually got something decent to show/hear. It's going to be a single channel preamp, with 2 gain boosts/switches, gain, volume, treble, mid, bass, and mid boost switch. This clip is with all controls at noon and the gain/mid boosts off. I think it sounds pretty good at the moment, but there's still some things I want to change. Dont mind the shitty playing: http://68.83.42.160:8099/ampclip2.mp3

And a pic of it messily wired on my desk:

I was writing a thrash metal song, got bored and put a ridiculous solo in the middle.
It's so far out of my league that I'll probably never be able to do it, but if anyone here can play it they'll be my fucking hero.
