Guitar Player's Thread

I use 3 springs in dropped C with 11-49. My guitar never goes out of tune, even when I over-use the floyd, even though its not even an original floyd rose.

I like D'addario strings because they are cheap and I never had issues with them. When they're dirty I'm not afraid to boil them either, cuz if it fails I can just get another set because it's not expensive.

The same thing happened to me in early July. It seems like Ernie Ball made some "bad" packs of strings, you're just unlucky and bought one of those. I bought a few other packs since July and everything is alright. (As it was before!)

Also, always wipe your strings once you've finished playing and don't forget to clean your hands before playing too.

Yeah, Ernie Ball is the only band I've ever had snap on me, but I had those on for awhile. I've never once broken a string with my floyd rose though o_O. What I have do to everytime I play now is wipe down mostly the G, B, and E strings, and keep my hands dry. What I usually do is wash my hands, and sometimes I'll even put on some baby powder lol. That way my hands are good and dry and not all greasy and shit.

DR's are probably the most inconsistent because they're still handmade. I like D'Addario, but string brand really doesn't make all that big of a difference to me.

Yay for another random "what strings do you use" topic!1

But I will contribute, since I just did put on a new set of DR .10-.46's on yesterday. DR rules.

I probably should equip my Ibanez MTM2 with 11-70 strings for Drop A tuning and change out my 7-string strings too...they look rusty  (Ernie Balls, yes...I've had them on since I first got it and they now feel like they have AIDS.)

EDIT: The Ibanez to Drop A for the sole reason that It looks like my band is starting to get to do gigs and I will need a backup.

I had a set of DR's on one of my guitars for almost 8 months and they still worked fine :) Probably were dead as fuck, but they stayed in tune and sounded ok, so that's all that matters to me.

after I replaced my claw screw, all was well. didn't need to put in the 4th spring.
I just put on Ernie Balls 10-52 btw, and nothing snapped. different experiences for all.

I use Dunlop 10-52. Last for 4-5 months of exhaustive playing and tons of floyd action and I don't usually snap them. Plus they're the cheapest ones over here (6,50€ the 6 strings). D standard and 4 springs.

11-49 drop C??? Holy fuck that has to be as loose as the belly of a sumo fighter!

^Nah, it's not that bad... most guitarists would use 11-52 in dropped C but I find 11-49's really comfortable to play.... They're not that loose, I have no problem doing tremolo picking
