Hey look! Its zakk wylde back in the day when he wasn't an idiot!
I figured out why i wasnt liking my tone, my pickup was way too close to the strings, it backed it off quite a bit and it sounds way better

No, "better" is not an absolute, it's a relative expression and is in the eye of the beholder. Plus, it differs from pickup to pickup.

OK for me I made better experiences with pickups which are closer to strings and I give a yes to the second point. It's curious cause I've edit my post and added the same thing you'Ve said about the diferent pickups but it doesnt save it.

Ok, I didn't want to sound harsh or anything.
On another note, I just took my old Yamaha RGX 721 in my hands and realized again, how great the playability is. I have to change the stock pickups some day.
