Guitar Player's Thread

How about the Dean Rusty Cooley sig. That would be the one to buy if I ever venture in "7 string land"

Yeah that's what I said too :p

I got a guy who confirmed...the V-1 Hellraiser is not neck heavy.

*DREWL*

SCHECTERS!!!! IM COMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING :D

Meh, I'm not one for non-RR V-bodies.

Nah, me neither. I can't stand King V's. RR's ftw, which is why I've been so busy with Miss Jackie this afternoon...

And I recorded a bunch of videos today while it was nice and sunny...but then it got dark...so I continued anyway, hehe :p

There's alot of mistakes but the whole day was just for fun, I just wanted to play and record and couldn't be fuckin' bothered with giving a shit if I hit one wrong note. I haven't played some of these in months/years so I did quite well considering, I think.

daaamn Mitch, that's a lot of songs you just did. Watching you with the whammy bar, like in the ETID intro, makes me feel like such a bum  I need to start utilizing that bar.

btw guys, is this considered tapping or legato? I have a feeling its tapping, but then I want to know what is the technical difference between tapping and legato? because I was under the impression that tapping mostly happens with the right hand/picking hand.

It's legato. What is legato? Well, it's playing a continuous and fluid series of notes with out using much picking. Guitarists play this technique by the usage of hammer-ons, pull-offs, and right (or left if your a lefty) hand tapping. Legato provides for very fluid sounding runs and licks. Legato also serves as a great means for playing wide intervallic licks at high speed.
So from my knowledge, legato is when you play a series of notes by hammer-on and/or pull-off with or without picking (tapping).

Vintage guitars are so great .

I played with a '60 Framus Missouri Acoustic, and a '57 or '59 Fender Japan (Squier). The strat played like a charm, I'm surprised my grandfather let me use it, he never let's anyone touch it!

Actually, now that I think of it, I'm not so sure about the Strat's year, but it was pretty old!

Edit #2: Yup, it's 1957.

I remember when they first came out the waiting list to get one was like 1 1/2 years.

They just came out, some weeks ago, the first people that ordered that have started getting them just now.

Legato is not a guitar technique, but a musical term, which is the opposite of staccato. Where as staccato is playing hard and consise, legato is soft and fluid.

So that means you're infact "legato-ing" while tapping aswell.

Wow...you just totally made me want to smash my guitar  That playing is so awesome...I bet you practiced your ass off some years back. I can't even see myself ever reaching that level  Rock on!

Oh and btw...i got a thing for original Flying V shapes and i dunno why:oops: That's why i love the schecter because its almost as a original.

Ah ok, thank you. That's what I thought from the beginning. I knew that tapping on the guitar is basically the same thing as doing legato on the guitar because both use hammer ons and pull offs. but I've noticed that some people actually refer to legato as tapping (like the playing on that video I posted). So I guess you can call that tapping after all, since tapping is a way to play legato.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Alexi has never even been at that level

Difference is Alexi rocks out on a stage doing it. A lot harder to play clean on stage than just sitting in your room. By the way those videos rock Mitch :kickass:
EDIT: Watch The Warrior Princess live (you can get it on the Sinergy Forum) Now tell me Alexi doesn't play clean, it's amazing!!!
