Guitar Player's Thread

^Holy shit. Real nice axe, you've just given me even more gas for the xiphos :D It really does look stunning, can't wait to get my hands on one. Btw what are teh clean tones like? oh and your cute XD

Dude, pictures don't do it justice. Only when you see it in person can you appreciate how amazing it looks. The clean tones are great. It can give off a very acousticy sound if that's what you want.

Weird? Dude, I fapped to that!

:p well I think its a weird outfit.

Hye mystic give it a couple weeks and you wont even noticed the fact that the neck wieghs down. Thats how it is on my rhoads and I dont even notice it anymore.

yea, poeple say its hard to play sitting down with an RR, for me is more comforatable then playing any other guitar sitting down.

I think that's because so many ppl start out playing strat shapes. And then when you pick up a v or an x shape for the first time, it feels weird and you have to position it differently while sitting. it definitely takes some getting used to. I remember when i first picked up a V, I felt like I could barely play it.

Mystique, you'll eventually find a way to play it that suits you. On guitars like that I actually play it like Schuldiner or Suicmez, around belt-height, tilted upwards.. IMHO it's the comfiest way to play those, I also sometimes rest my right arm on the fin on the upper fin so that I don't have to hold the neck up with my left hand.

Ok, so I finally got my Xiphos 2 days ago. Here's a little review on it so far:

I think it's nearly flawless. The fretboard feels heavenly...its very easy to go up and down the neck. And it feels great to play when sitting down. Now the only problem I've encounterd so far is the position of the guitar when I try to play it standing up. The strap buttons are placed on the upper two fins and so when I stand up with it, the neck completely dives down. I know this can easily be fixed by drilling another hole on the other fin. But I've noticed Muhammed actually plays it the way it is. But it's just irritating to try to support the neck with your left hand while playing. ANYWAYS....aside from the strap buttons, everything else is great. The whammy bar is amazing cuz all you have to do is stick it in there and it stays very smug, no need to screw it in or anything. Very easy to whammy. The binding is great and the reverse inlays and reverse headstock look awesome. The bridge is very cool too, I don't know why ppl complain about it not being a FR brdige...the Edge 3 is very nice also. The neck-thru feels great for all those higher frets, makes it much easier to play there. Oh and the pick-ups!!! They sound absolutely fantastic and they're pretty versatile. You could just use the neck pick up and with the right settings on your amp, you could play some jazz. And the bridge pick up gives a killer sound. These DiMarzio activators are great imo; they even make my crappy 10 watt ibanez amp sound good. And they're probably better than EMGs, but I haven't made up my mind on that completely.

Awesome! It looks so nice, and seeing a girl holding a Xiphos is even more awesome. And don't even consider changing the pickups to EMG's, at best you could get a bit more aggresive rythm tone, but you would loose the smooth lead tone and cleans.

yeah, the more I play, the more I'm liking these Dimarzio activators. They really have great tones.

and here ya go... I thought I'd share this cuz it's just simply bad ass

I dunno what you use to record, but could you record something so we could hear the tone?

Well resting your right arm on the upper fin wont work when you try to stand up and play because your right hand has to focus on picking! And while its resting on the fin, it can't exactly pick very well

The only way I've been able to record so far is by plugging in my guitar directly into the computer. I'll have to get a mic soon so you can at least hear the Xiphos through my amp. But I have no idea when that'll happen, so until then, I leave you with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lkqf1zvJJU
keep watching, and he starts some playing some riffs.

^Wow, Mystique, you have a really nice new guitar!! I like the pics you posted too. :)

But now what are you going to do about the old Ibanez? Will you keep playing that one too, sometimes, right? I liked that one aswell.
