I've listened to it once, and let me say: I'm worried. I hope the Symphony X I knew isn't gonna lose their more melodic, symphonic, sound in order to please those who want more heavyness. There must be a balance somewhere, but so far, this doesn't feel like it. Hopefully, the rest of the album will be better.

So far I've heard two songs from the new album, and they are both pretty heavy, and mainly guitar oriented. There seems to be a lack of keyboards and the epic sound of V. The melody and symphonic parts seem to be restricted to the choruses from what I've heard so far.

Still, I think this is going to be a good album.

Just like the Dream Theater fans, your post is annoying and stupid IMO. Im tired of all you ppl wanting these bands to wussy out and play "softer" music. Why dont you go listen to the Enchants, Spocks Beards, Shadow Gallerys etc and let us METAL fans enjoy some freakin BALLS in our music.

Bad enough the prog rock fans have turned Dream Theater from a metal band into a rock band, we dont need em doing it with SX.

SX too heavy for you? Go listen to Porcupine Tree!

LONG LIVE HEAVY F**KIN' BALLSY MELODIC METAL!!!

SX SMOKE!

It's called an opinion, dude
Everybody has them, and just because RequiemX has a different opinion than you it's no reason to get all worked up about it. And if you don't like it, don't read/respond, i don't think anybody would really care.

Anyway, i have only heard King of Terrors and i have been thinking the same, i hope it isn't all really heavy and lacking in other areas. I'll wait until i've heard more songs though.

don't worry, buy or die!
could listen to a part of the album at the Ayreongig yesterday, and be assured , the king of terrors- mp3 gives you a good clu of how the album sounds, genuine SX!
unfortunatly halfway they put a progrock album in the PA which was pritty f**n' boring me.
SX rulez, grtz, MHB ;)

All I have to say is Divine Wings of Tragedy Part II

This album rules, Symphony X rules!! Bottom line, no if and or buts about it.

Bear

The "TWOT" pt2 comparison is not too far from the truth .... ;)
Yet it has "Best Of" stamped all over it. Everything you love is there!

I still recover from the shock of listening to the whole album! This is brilliant and beautiful stuff! A heavier direction for sure, keyboards more in the background, decent bass drums, crisp sound....

If I had to pick faves, I simply couldn't because "The Odyssey" is a masterpiece! Then again, "Awakenings" and "Accolade II"... :spin:

Amen to that. We want Progressive Metal, not Progressive Rock!

well this post is not really directed to requiem i just want point this out.

I don't want to look like an ass here but i've seen posts like these in the metallica board a lot of times and i'm sick of them already, i don't want this to happen here on the SYX board. First of all Syx won't make music to appeal to everyone they'll make the music that they feel and want to do, if you don't like it ''big fuckin deal'' wait 'till they release the next cd and see if you like it (personally i love this heavier direction) it would be cool to discuss our opinions on the new cd 1 or 2 times but let's not get into a fuckin discussion every day about how you don't like the cd and you were very disapointed.

btw ''real'' fans are the ones that stick up for their favorite band or respect the music that the band is doing even though they don't enjoy it as much

And my reply is called an OPINION as well! If you like mellow shit, go listen to something else! These bands are METAL bands, if your not a metalhead why dont you just go on a bandwagon somewhere else that fits your needs.

This shits grown tiresome. The mellower fans start liking a metal band because they may be a little progressive or technical, and then they want them to play lighter music.

Perhaps a Billy Joel message board would cater more towards your needs.

So true! My words in another thead!

And the funny thing is, whenever a band is going a bit more into what-the-fans- want, it is still not right or enough.... You can't please everyone.

"Everybody has them, and just because RequiemX has a different opinion than you it's no reason to get all worked up about it" - from my earlier post. Take note that i acknowledged you have an opinion to.
Ok so maybe i was wrong about the don't respond part, you have a right to an opinion, but, as i said in my other post, there's no reason to get all worked up about it. Your post comes across as an attack towards Requiem. Well to me it does anyway and i didn't see a need for that at all.
You can have what ever opinion you like, but i find it annoying when people almost flame others for having different opinions.
And i don't need your sarcasm either

And i agree with you Ultimate_Symphony. There's WAY too much complaining on the metallica boards and i hope the complaints about the album can be kept to a minimum here.
