Heavy? Yes it is. Good? Maybe.

You can have what ever opinion you like, but i find it annoying when people almost flame others for having different opinions.
And i don't need your sarcasm either

And i agree with you Ultimate_Symphony. There's WAY too much complaining on the metallica boards and i hope the complaints about the album can be kept to a minimum here.

LOL trust me I aint losing sleep over this guys opinion. I hardly got "worked up" over his views, I simply posted how Im tired of reading it, which in fact is MY OPINION on HIS OPINION.

You find it annoying when people almost flame others for diff opinions, and I find it annoying when people who like mellower stuff complain when a METAL band play heavy. So you can find something annoying and its ok, I can find something annoying and its not ok? Nice logic you got going on there.

Oh BTW its nice to see you dont need sarcasm. I dont need alot of things either.

Please don't assume I've heard the whole album. I haven't. All I heard was the sample track that was released. That's all.

I love symphonic/progessive metal. I love metal with melody. And Symphony X's neoclassical style owns. If you think I'm some Billy Joel-love'n hippy, you're far off.

The comment I made was mostly based on my first few playings of the song. I was worried about how repetative Romeo's playing was in the beginning of the track.

For the whole album, I'm hoping there is a little more variety. That's all. I'm not asking them to sound like Backstreet Boys meets [insert metal band here]---trust me. That would suck beyond beleif.

The sample track rocks. It does. I love it. I was just hoping for a little more variation.

And I don't appreciate these attacks.

Actually, I was the first one who wrote a thread about concerns of band's musical direction, because I was afraid it was gonna sound death metallish or atonal, but as you can see that's not the case here, I like King Of Terror very much. When I say 'melodic', something dramatical and grandiose is what I had in mind, instead of some wimpy music.

I was going through this post, and read about everyone saying: we want prog metal, not rock. The point is that this song is going too metal and little prog. As it has been said, it went very guitar oriented, and very repetitive. I don't mind it being heavier, but I do mind it losing all the progressive thing. The song is very good, it has some great parts, such as the pre-chorus and chorus. But the intro isn't very creative, and I hope the rest of the album is more music oriented, not guitar oriented.
Although I should have remained quiet, since I've heard the song very little to make a formed opinion, I could noy keep quiet about people attacking others.
Hope the album rocks.

Thanks. You explained that better than I.

I know many here are attracted to the metal aspect of Symphony X alone. That's cool. They rock. But what sealed the deal for me was their neoclassical style. This song didn't show much of it. My original post was a hope that some of their neoclassical style would show-through more in other tracks.

Well, Ive heard the whole album, so I can assure anyone turned off by the "lack of progressiveness" in King of Terrors that theres plenty of times where the prog side shows more, namely, Accolade 2, Awakenings, and The Odyssey. Actually, Awakenings might be the most "prog" Ive ever heard them (Pinella dominates a HUGE chunk of it). And The Turning is the big Sea of Lies type neoclassical song.

I like both proggy and metal stuff (actually, I tend to think of myself as more of a powermetal fan than a progmetal fan recently) and this album has good amounts of both.

Well to me it looked like you were pissed off. It's the internet, these things are impossible to tell.

 Haven't you realised yet that i don't have a problem with you you find it annoying? My beef is the way you put it across. I thought we established that a couple of posts ago.

Have a nice day. I'm not arguing about this anymore. Let's just leave it.

Which, IMMHO, would've been cool. Though the album probably would have gone over like 34.788% Complete did for My Dying Bride fans.

Personally, I would love to hear Romeo go berserk on a guitar downtuned to A. I bet he could give Nile a run for their money. :)

lol i would love to see that  Karl Sanders and Michael on a death metal duel  and Jason Rullo on a battle with Tony Laureano

Best death metal band ever:
Michael Romeo's berserk evil twin - Guitar
Karl Sanders - Guitar, vocals
Mikael Akerfeldt - vocals, because his voice rocks my ass
Tony Laureano - Drums
Bass - doesn't really matter when you're playing in A...

I'd buy it!
