Heavy? Yes it is. Good? Maybe.

I just received my promo cd of "The Odissey" yesterday and I listened to it twice... well, i found it great. But that's not what I wanted to say.
Wouldn't it be very boring to hear from SX something like TNMS part 2? The Odissey is as exiting work for the fact that it's so different from TNMS (heavier, more guitar oriented, heavily sung etc.) but still Symphony X 100 %! And this is a universal concept. What abut Dream Theater making three Images And Words in a row? Boring, very boring. The difference between a good band and an excellent one is all here, in the courage to develop the music doing great works time to time.
Just my opinion

That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

Dado,

have you (somehow) listened to the title track? If the rest of the album shows the havier side of the band, less symphonic but evn more prog than ever, "The Odissey" shows Symphony X greatest orchestrations ever! Overture and Journey to Ithaca seem to sort out from an Holywood colossal and reminds Starwars or Indiana Jones soundtracks. Absolutely nothing near to this grandour in the entire V album! The ones who loved V will just love that track, maybe their best ever.

Dude, I have no doubts Odyssey is gonna rule. What I meant if someone would on my previous post on THIS thread when I said
'Another sleepless night...' :)

That's not what I meant, dammit.
I was hoping some Savatage fan would finish the sentence with '...a concrete paradise!'.
Ahh, well...

People always care about what THEY want... but please, let the bands do what they want to do - you can always listen the stuff in shops, so if you don't like the CD no problem - don't buy it!

Some people talk about what bands should do, but according to that there will always be different opinions, at the end not everybody could be happy... the band too...

you are not there to give them money and time when they work on their CD, this is their own (and only) right to do what they want. They involve & work so much to do their thing; nobody has the right to say things like "we want that and not that in their music". They must do what they feel, that's all. Nobody obliges you to love their CD's, I - for example - have alot of fave bands, but I don't always like ALL of their CD's... hey, no problem, when it's the case I don't buy :)

And sorry for the crappy english... (and don't forget that listening a little track is nothing compared to listening a whole CD... could you let a friend of you judging TDWOT while only listening at THE WITCHING HOUR ??? NO, you must hear all the stuff...)
