Help me get Nat 3 and I'll make it worth your while with impulses galore!

So, are there any examples of what this will sound like? Are there any audio files utilizing Nat3/Nebula as a cab simulator?

Haha, yup, time to see if it's worth the cash :D I figure I'll make both regular and Nat2 impulses at the same time (both 32 and 64 bit), and do a shootout to see if the difference is noticeable.

I've never used it, actually.

Here's something that might be helpful.

I don't know exactly how the IRs are made when capturing an acoustic impulse, but it kind of worries me that the sampling process "should take about a half hour."

Then again you need much longer sample to capture reverb tails than you would for just a speaker cab. I don't think you'll have a sine sweep going for a half hour straight.

Hahaha, ooh, a hahrtware rewerb, AWESOME! And jesus christ, I hope it won't be half an hour - I mean, the reverb tail is like 2 seconds, if it needs half an hour for that, wouldn't it need pretty close for a cab? Although maybe that's for the more high fallutin' Nat3...oh well, I'll find out soon enough! Thanks for the vid Ben!

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH, "PIZZAH YUMMY!!"

EDIT: Ok, yeah, he said they got 25 samples over the whole process so it's more dynamic, hence the massive duration.

This is seriously tight stuff here bro. If you need an extra dose of moolah, hit me up. I've got a couple Jacksons I can spare.

A shootout at the end would be sweet. "It's what goin' thru this niggaz mind" to quote a song.

Thanks for the offer Andrew, and yeah, if you could chip in ($20 has been the norm so far), that'd rule! Still hovering at $80, halfway there! :kickass:

FFS, count on this shit to pop up just as I'm sleeping. Goddamn time difference.

I'm in for $35 baby. Get the most expensive shit you can get, I want full quality of everything. If you can, aim for NAT 3 so you can sample the pot values like Resonance and Presence - that would be ace. If you sample the cab at the highest quality you possibly can, then the quality is only limited by the version of Nebula the user chooses to use.

Anyway mate I've got Paypal locked into that eCheque system so my cash will only get to you in like a week. If you want, PM me your bank account details and I'll do a direct bank transfer. Cheers!

By the way, the Acusticaudio guys are really active on forums and communities, so if you tell them about this thread, I think they'll chip in with useful info for all of us. If we can inform them of what we're trying to achieve here, I think we might get some useful feedback... and in particular YOU might get some useful feedback on how to sample the cab most adequately, Marcus.

On another note, did they describe the concrete differences between Nat 2 and 3 to you? Does NAT 2 only do a snapshot with the current poweramp settings, whereas NAT 3 can sample all positions of your poweramp settings and then let the user alter them on their end? That was my impression from the e-mail you got back.

Thanks Ermin! And I've posted everything I've heard from them but yeah, as far as I can tell, that ability to edit parameters after sampling seems to be a feature of Nat 3 - honestly, I figure that won't be a big deal, since a) the Recto only has a presence knob, and it only works on one of the channels, and b) I'll just make impulses with different presence settings for each mic position like the last time. :) No need to bother with the bank account transfer, I figure your $35 can wait and then cover the OC703 to stick in my cab :D

Sweet! If the 703 doesn't work out there, you can always stick it under or behind the mic to prevent acoustic comb filtering in those areas!

I think one of the coolest things to be able to come out of this endeavor is a blind shoot-out with real cab, impulses, and NAT 2 all taken from the same mic position, amp settings etc. It'd be the ultimate test as to how good NAT 2 is.

Haha, nice try dude, but that's going to my new one! (that Voodooman douche still hasn't gotten back to me, I should email him again  )
