Help me get Nat 3 and I'll make it worth your while with impulses galore!

I'm actually quite surprised we didn't do something like this for Shane (kazrog) when he was starting the Recabinet stuff last year. This would have been really cool for that, but I suppose a Mesa Stiletto cab will do :p

He didn't ask :D And my friend 30 seconds down the road from me has a Rectifier cab, so don't think I'll stop at the Stiletto!

I actually suggested for Shane to give Nebula a shot, but he seemed to feel that the impulses were doing an adequate enough job of recreating the amp tone.

Regarding the software, yes it's a monster. I've played around with Nebula 3 before and the compression and verb emulation was amazing. It's the best modeling software out there & it's potential seems to get higher with each coming day.

@Marcus: To be frank I think we should all be aiming for the 64-bit precision. If people don't feel like shelling out the dough for Nebula 3, then it's their perogative and they can choose to do the 32/64 bit shoot-outs. Personally I'm more interested in how the highest possible quality Nebula modeling compares to the current batch of impulses and of course (the ultimate test) real cabinets.

Hey, your call man! I'm going right for Nebula3, so I doubt I'd be able to intentionally force it to open the samples in 32-bit form, but I think it'd be cool to see how much of a difference 32-bit vs. 64-bit could make, and it's not like buying Nebula2, doing the test at 32-bit, and then upgrading to Nebula3 would cost you any more green!

So Ermin, just to clarify (and yes, I'm too lazy to check their site out), I could basically have a plug-in version of say an API EQ available to me? All parameters adjustable and correspond to the hardware unit's parameters and such?

Why isn't everyone diving into this thing...

If you are interested in testing the real quality of this sampling technology you could test with the free version of nebula3 the free programs of sampled API equalisers on www.nebula-programs.com.

many people said that they are closer then the 1000$ API emulation coming from Waves.

^ There you go.

Unfortunately my experience is that Nebula 3 is a real CPU hog, so there's only so many instances you can have running on a modern machine (though the i7s I imagine give us more flexibility in this regard).

I´m using Nebula 3 quite a bit... Verb, tape, filters, great stuff! I´m also really looking forward to this and I agree with Ermin, shoot for highest possible quality.

I just don't understand if it's truly as insane as it appears in words why tons of people aren't jumping on this software. Why spend tons of money on outboard EQs and compressors and such if all you have to spend is $170US to get this software and find the "programs" online for free or maybe even pay a little for them, yanno? I could see why the people with tons of money would rather just get the real thing, really anyone would rather get the real thing, but if this is so close then why not go this route instead of buying sub-par prosumer grade outboard stuff?

I guess part of me is still a bit skeptical. Francesco, what's the word on a Mac version of Neb/Nat? I run a G5 with OSX 10.4, don't really want to shell out money for your software and a PC just to use the software, although if it's amazing then I would. But if a Mac version is not too far off then I'll definitely wait for that.

It's one of the lesser known amazing technologies in the audio industry. Every now and then a thread will pop up on GS highlighting how great the emulation is, but it never catches on in the mainstream.

The main reason I can think of is that the acusticaudio guys don't have great PR like a company like Waves would. Waves can sell plug-ins off GUI alone. Nebula is still quite rough around the edges. It uses a ton of CPU, has a clunky interface, doesn't look very pretty etc. but what's under the hood is astounding... unfortunately in an industry that likes to taut all aspects 'audio' so very few people seem to actually LISTEN.

Try it yourself mate, and if you like it, use it. This cabinet emulation endeavor will really put it to the test.

Nebula is just running fine on Mac Intels. We will release the free version of Nebula for mac Intels before the end of February and then the commercial one.

But in the meantime many people are just using nebula with bootcamp.

Francesco: My G5 is a dual 2.0gHz PPC chip :( I'm guessing Mac support is only going to be for the Intel users then? Or would I be lucky enough that you guys are working on PPC versions too?

The amount these guys charge for this technology is basically a gift. 20 bucks may let you use cabinet impulses, but you are also getting tons of vintage sampled EQ's, preamps, compressors, etc. People are using some of these modules to do their professional mastering work as well. Once their GUI gets better and CPU's get better, Nebula will be a no brainer.

Nebula may also be the key to the ultimate amp simulation (not just cabinet simulation). I heard that currently the high gain of amps is making it difficult to sample guitar amps with Nat right now, but they are also working on that. If they can bring guitar amp sampling to the level of their vintage EQ sampling, things will become very interesting. Imagine someone perfectly sampling their Road King or Diezel.

Right now I'm waiting for them to improve the attack and release of their compressors. They are the reason why I passed on getting a UAD-1 card. Francesco, is Nebula 3 Pro still slated for a release this month?

Woohoo, just bought Nebula 3 for $112! Nat3 will come soon (I just need $20 more!), but I wanna get my head around Nat2 first :) Got a date tonight (in case anyone wondered whether I have a life outside gear :D), but I'll try to get crackin' as early as tomorrow or Saturday!

Wow...didn't even consider the possibilities of amp simulation as well...a sim of Krank and Engl (Line6's PB sim is shit) amps for a change would be wicked! *sigh* I really hope there is a PPC version before I get to the point where I'm ready to upgrade to an Intel G5.

Yes Nebula3 Pro will be released before the end of february (to be sure) and it will implement the new attack release sampling approach (only Nat3 can do that)

I'm preparing a preview of the compressor libraries and i'm sampling right now a valve compressor (TL Audio Fat Funker) with original ratio, attack, release curves and for the first time also compressor valve harmonic distorsions.

Many high end compressors will be sampled on nebula-programs.com and only with nebula3 Professional you will use them. So if you don't want to waste time you can just make the upgrade to nat3 (Nebula3 -> nat3 39 euro) and you will have Nebula3 Professional and the first valve compressor for free when it will be out.

I hate paypal. Tried to send 10€ but paypal wont use the elv to get the money from my bank account. I tried :(
Click and Buy works fine everytime I buy steam games.

Fucken PP won't work for me either, I feel your pain. Not only on this but I wanted to buy shit today.
