How about a friendly guitar tone competition?

Drums sound great BrettT! :headbang: What VSTi did you use?

Thanks!

The drums are Reason Drumkits 2.0 refill. It's a kit I've been tweaking for a while now...It the Jocke Skog rock kit with several tweaks. I generally do my programming in Reason, and have it rewired into Reaper. I do all my eq, compression, etc. inside Reason, and once I'm happy with it, I'll export the file as a .wav and just import it into Reaper. No processing done to drums at all in Reaper.

Cool dude, that's an atypical way of doing it around here (you're the only one I know of who uses Reason), but I can't argue with the results! Pricey piece of software though :erk:

I use Reason for a lot more than drum programming. I do a lot of movie score type stuff with it...also experimental electronic music. The Drumkits 2.0 Refill is possibly the most underrated drum sampling "software" out there, IMO. I love Reason.

Okay, so I imported the bass midi file into Reason and used more of Jocke's settings (Thanks!!!!!) and I think it sounds pretty good. Mark should have the link now.

Yup I got them, checked them, and they got my seal of approval.

Here is a preview track this time with the bassline included. It's a bit loud, so you can clearly hear the bass in there. Again, quick smackdown. I don't want to gain an unfair advantage by dicking around too much.

We now have DI's, a drumline and a bassline! This means this sunday will be the last day you can enter the competition. I will email/pm all participants on Monday with all the files and information they need.

Yeah, I'll get right on that tabbing dude! (just had to finish some re-amping :))

Its cool lol no rush I was just wondering. As long as I get it sometime this weekend its all good. Its very useful to have for those who want to record their own gear. I checked out the original opeth tab but its different from how you played it:p

*edit*

We are 1 man short of 50 participants o_O

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I think all the seperate tracks for poll should be numbered and anonymous to provent any biases (i.e. a,b,c etc.) and the order/owner of the tracks is listed at the end of the contest.
