None of them sound that great........plastic palm mute syndrome.
The overall tone of E is good, it's got more gain than the others for 1.

But i wonder if i'm right in saying none of those actually ever saw a real 12" speaker in their lives?

Just out of curiosity... Were this tracks reamped with real gear... or just sims and IRs ?

i liked A and D big time, but E gets my vote.

and, btw, great playing on that riff! :kickass: :headbang: :Smokin:

After hearing others' clips, I realized that I mixed the guitars too loud on mine and it kinda ruins my clip. :( Oh well! That's what we're here for..to learn.

Poll closed! Working on all the participants data to be posted up now. E as winner? or D and E both to the next round...8 vote difference.

Here's the authors of the tracks that didn't make it:
Guitar A: ::Xes::
Guitar B:MT01
Guitar C:BrettT

Sorry you guys didn't make it, but thanks so much for participating! The people who did vote for you might also enjoy listening to your guitar tracks, and might want to use the EQing files from your tracks. Who knows, you might have helped them get closer to the tone they want.

Alright, here we go. Round 1 info:

Solo guitar files:

I adjusted the volumes to be more alike. Some clips were extremely soft, others extremely loud. They now all average about -8 to -13, instead of some being -2 others - 20. No other changes have been made. If one clip is half the size of the others...its because that user only submitted half a clip. This is stuff I corrected for the competition, but not for these files.

Curve EQ files:

Do you like the EQing in one of the tracks? If you download this VST plugin you can copy it exactly.
http://www.voxengo.com/product/curveeq/

It is a 60 band graphic EQ that can load saved EQ curves and apply them to any recording.

Here are the saved curve EQ files I took from the guitar tracks. Since D and E did so well, I'd say those are the files to look at.
