Yeah, and also, the pickup was a bit lower than I would've liked for the DI's, but oh well, consider it even better cuz it makes the achievement even greater for those who were able to make it sound good!

Yeah the choise wasn't bad at all. If/when we do another competition like this, we can do a whole different track though. More palm mutes, moar br00tz etc.

Yeah i guess if there's a "guitar tone competition : strikes back" it would be cool to have a palm mute brootz kind of riff, but that opeth rff as a first choice was definitely cool.
This is an interesting round to say the least...or should I say R is sodomizing the competition?

Solo guitar files:
I adjusted the volumes to be more alike. Some clips were extremely soft (-20), others extremely loud (+3). They now all average about -6 to -10. No other changes have been made. If one clip is half the size of the others...its because that user only submitted half a clip. This is stuff I corrected for the competition, but not for these files.

Wow, I honestly had no idea W was mine! (could've SWORN it was E from round 1) But at least I still voted for it (even if I was one of the few )

I'm not trying to be a sore loser, but you can't tell me there's not a difference between these two:

Yeah, I can definitely hear the difference between those two clips too.
Also, was my submission the one which got rejected for bad quality? Because I'm fairly sure my name isn't on the list of people who didn't make it, so it's either that or I can't recognise my own work, which is also possible
I'm double checking my files, I'll get back to you in like 5min. I'm thinking its volume difference/dropbox compression though. I'll post back here when I figure out whats up.

You're in the finals. X was my own clip...I took it out due to recording latency issues.
Definitely not dropbox compression, since dropbox doesn't compress anything, and you hear there is little to no volume difference between the two (cuz I imported the .wavs into Reaper, adjusted the faders until they were equal, then exported them as mp3's)
Ohh yeah, I just had another listen and I recognised it. I was convinced R sounded very similar to mine for a while. I feel rather stupid now

Ok, Solo Guitar W by itself is fine, but Ahj's in the mix is totally wrong (to hear how they should sound, refer to "Mine.mp3" above)
Yeah, mine.mp3 is exactly like the full mix I got from your .rar. I'm afraid ahj might have switched files somehow...
