When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone, not the mixing or playing. ahjteam edited the tracks so all the guitars are at -18db rms, and the drums and bass are at a set volume. Thank you sir!

If you recognise your own work, please keep it to yourself. Usernames will be made public in the end. Please place your vote, and post in the thread with your reasoning! When the poll closes in 3 days, I will post up the EQing graphs and CurveEQ files and single guitar files for the tracks. No usernames yet, those will come after the last round.

As you can see, L is not included in the poll. ahjteam let me know that the drums and bass on his track had been edited, and I didn't receive a guitar only file from him so I couldn't fix it. Wouldn't be fair to include that in the competition, but I would like it if you commented and gave feedback on L in your posts. I'm sure he didn't mean to cheat, so I do want him to get feedback on his tone.

M got my vote. It seemed to have the nice presence that I like but it didn't sound thin. P had the presence but not the thickness.

first off, L was killer! i was diggin' the tone and the take on the riff! :kickass:

it's a shame to be eliminated, but rules are rules...

the razor sharp edge of O is awesome. probable best blended with a more bottom heavy tone. M gets my vote. nice mids and sits in the mix just right! :headbang:

Hmm, L sounds too much like Korn, can't say I'm particularly fond of it, but, umm, good job for nailing that vibe I guess!

Not the greatest batch here compared to Round 4 IMO (strangely enough I listened to that round first), but "O" is the clear winner for me!

I supplied the DI's (which most people used), but except for the second note which I played an octave lower than it should be (creative license :D) I think it's otherwise accurate, and FTR it's exactly 8 BPM too slow - my sincerest apologies :loco:

Oh yeah, and the whole C-standard thing - I only have one working guitar, and that's its tuning ;)

I voted N, although I don't think it's great but I just don't really like the other ones, always too much of 'something', N is more the middleway for me.

Here's the authors of the tracks that didn't make it:
Guitar N: Nukular
Guitar O: OctoberRust
Guitar P: The_Shred
Guitar Q: Thewintersnow

Sorry you guys didn't make it, but congrats to M! Thanks to everyone for participating, and see you guys in the final round.

Alright, here we go. Round 3 info:

Solo guitar files:

I adjusted the volumes to be more alike. Some clips were extremely soft (-20), others extremely loud (+3). They now all average about -6 to -10. No other changes have been made. If one clip is half the size of the others...its because that user only submitted half a clip. This is stuff I corrected for the competition, but not for these files.

Guitar N:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1010558/Guitar N.wav
Guitar O:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1010558/Guitar O.wav
Guitar P:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1010558/Guitar P.wav
Guitar Q:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1010558/Guitar Q.wav

I'm not going to bother posting the EQ files, I asked in a previous round if anyone even used them and no one even responded.
