It's sad to admit, but I don't really drink much beer these days. I have come to realize that I'm probably allergic to something which is in most brews... I'm not sure if it's related to yeast or malt. I suppose it could be hops? I still regularly drink liquor. The issue is that I can put down 0.5L or more of liquor with relative ease. The next morning I'll feel groggy for 30-90 minutes and then completely normal. 2-3 beers? I'll feel like absolute dogshit. Any more than that? I'll have a hangover which lasts hours.
I had a period of a few years when I stopped drinking completely because I was trying to enjoy beer and it just wasn't working for me at all. At a friends house I drank 6 Harpoon IPAs (which are gross in the first place) and ended up getting pretty sick by the time I got home. I felt hangover symptoms for days, I shit you not. It's ridiculous, anyone should be able to drink 6 of those things. Last night I drank .5L of vodka and I was up doing chores at 6:30AM after 7 hours of sleep. That being said, I never drink during the week and I still love beer. If I enjoy a fine beer with a meal then its generally never an issue.
