In search of melodic death metal bands

The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity
A Canorous Quintet
Serberus
Sentenced - North From Here
Unanimated - Ancient God of Evil
Ashen Light (It's Russian Melodic Black metal, but still good)

Arghoslent isn't that great. Maybe listen to a song or two before buying. If you like Arch Enemy and In Flames, you'll probably enjoy Soilwork too.

Also pick up something from Death. Human or The Sound of Perseverance are fairly melodic, but pretty heavy. You'd probably enjoy them.

most of these are melodic death or melo-death, others are natural extensions

You might as well have asked me for the ones I recommend of the bands you had heard too because I disagree with some of those choices.

Namely:
Vehemence - God was Created
Anata - The Infernal Depths of Hatred
Eucharist - A Velvet Creation
Carcass - Heartwork

They are pretty neat. Another band very similar to them is Holymarsh, though they are much more obscure. Arghoslent are pretty much at the top of the melodic death metal ladder, Incorrigible Bigotry is a requirement for any melodic death fan.

:worship:

SECONDED TO INFINITY. Except a few.

Also. Garden Of Shadows - Oracle Moon is awesome.

Don't listen to Helping the World to See by Vehemence. It fucking sucks. If you have to listen to Vehemence listen to God Was Created or The Thoughts From Which I Hide. Ideally, avoid Vehemence altogether.

Yeah;

Intestine Baalism
Arghoslent
Avulsed
Neuraxis
Lykathe
Arsis
Anata
Amon Amarth

That sort of shiznitz to get you started. Mind, those bands really are heavy and melodic, not pansy shit like In Flames or Arch Enemy etc.

If you want other good bands more along those 'softer' lines, then check-out;

Solar Dawn
Omnium Gatherum
Beyond The Embrace (Against the Elements album)
Shadow
Infliction
Dark Tranquillity
A Canorous Quintet
Eucharist

I don't think Avulsed is melodic or even good. In my opinion, it is just crap. I don't know If I have heard just their worst songs, but this is really shit!!! In Flames is not my band...But I really think Arch Enemy kicks Avulsed's Ass! But for the others, I think it is ok, well, for those I know (Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility, Neuraxis...). So that's why I might have heard only their bad stuff (Avulsed I mean), but for what I heard....it really doesn't worth a dime.

Ah, well, Avulsed were pretty straightforward gory death metal for most of their career; it's only on the last two albums (and hopefully the new one) where they've started putting stark melodic elements into thier music. You might have heard something from their earlier albums.

Cybergore is so bad that it makes me vomit out worms.

However, Yearning For The Grotesque is pretty good.

</random opinion>

Yeah;

Lykathe

Since when have Lykathe released anything? Lykathea Aflame and Lykathe are like completely seperate bands with only the drummer being the common denominator and since no one has heard any Lykathe who knows what genre they might be.
