Maiden is more or less universally respected, if not loved.
DF is universally hated, for reasons that escape me.

For the record, I wouldn't go so far as to say I like Judas Priest. I enjoy some of their stuff but don't really consider them to be metal. Same goes for Motorhead, great band but as rock n roll as it gets. As for Slayer... I think they were fucking revolutionary and are really masters at what they do, but I don't really like them that much, I only ever listen to them for a couple songs at a time.

I think Darkthrone might be a close bet for one of the most universal bands on this board, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't like them at all, even around here.

P.S. I'd be interested in this poll.
