JOHN BUSH: My Time With ANTHRAX Is 'Over' - Sep. 25, 2005

Quit your job for a month and see how long it takes you to go find a new one.

Yeah, now imagine quitting your job with a new-born baby to feed... wait... that's Bush...

Well. This sucks. I really hope they stand by their original intentions and wrap this reunion thing and go back to the modern Anthrax, cause as much as I love the ATL era, I prefer the Bush era.

Oh what the heck... we'll see. Worst case scenario: I stop buying Anthrax records if I don't like what they do next.

THe thing that's been bothering for a while is the lack of information coming from the band... It's ridiculous considering how Anthrax is supposed to be a band "of the people for the people" or whatever they said...

Major Bummer...

Sometimes I forget how much of a shit business the music industry is. Especially for bands who have loyal followings, but not big enough to do things on their own terms. My knee-jerk reaction was to give up on them, but I'm trying to be realistic about the situation. I just wish they could tour and record with Bush without having to worry about the bullshit.

I hope satellite radio kills terrestrial radio and music choice or something similar kills MTV so bands with talent don't have to go through this shit. I don't even know if that would have any affect, I just want to read about bands that suck having to disband because of bullshit and not bands I like.

I think Deege makes a good point. Anthrax does not want shit promotion and what better way to keep their name known and fulfill their contract agreement, without throwing away another great new album to no distribution, than a reunion tour with joey and the rest of the guys???

I dont know though I love Joey Belladonna more than bush and Alive 2 made me think they have a lot mroe energy now then they did with bush when I saw em live. I dont know about you guys but I cant wait for the tour and a chance to meet one of my fuckin guitar idols, Scott "Not" Ian!!!!!! :headbang:

i thought dimebag inspired this? or if this is the case i dont see why it cant just be said and thats it. at the end of the day what do you respect more, people being straight up with you? or people who arnt? im sure if your missus didn't have sex with you for five months , youd kick her fucking teeth in.

yeah lets bag anthrax for wanting to survive and deliver metal for all us fans for years to come, how pathetic u people are, anthrax are and will always be survivors, alot of american fans are unhappy about bush being gone but did u guys go out and buy the records?,lets face it,they couldnt have done another record with sanctuary,at least they are trying to do shit right this time, long live anthrax, how many years have they struggled along, the minute they get a bitt of a break and hype u guys turn on them,u guys can go from the board but anthrax will always be my favourite band, this isnt about bush or belladonna its about anthrax continuing to make great music, have they ever delivered a terrible record?,if u dont like whats happening its your damn problem not mine.see u in the cdc guys and gals.

this is the same scenario when joey got fired but with the internet. :tickled: john bush should of done what the rest of the band did and put their personal shit behind them and done the tour (if what revolver mag states is true).

Its a very strange scenario I must admit. I've never witnessed anything like it with regards to bands. I guess it must be true as the WCFYA merch in the CDC is labelled as VINTAGE! wtf!!! VINTAGE! I guess the Bush era is no longer.

I grew up in the Bush era and not Joey era so Im more inclined to Bush. Not that I hate Joey - I love the old stuff too! I guess I just feel for Bush as I wouldnt have like to have been treated like that. Then again I or anyone else dont know that band, Bush or the truth So I'll bury my head and hope it all goes away!

I need my faith in Anthrax to be restored!

i'm an american and i bought all of the Bush era albums. the day they came out. and then i bought the reissues as well. i have two copies of SOWN, two copies of Stomp, two copies of vol8 and three copies of WCFYA, one of which i bought directly from the band. over the years i also got as many people as i could to buy what they could. I buy shirts at the concerts, I buy singles and imports and live albums and (some) best ofs and dvds. What else do you want from me as a fan? As for Sanctuary, Alive 2 is on Sanctuary, so if this is fullfilling a contractual agreement then fine. Scott gave an interview right after elektra dropped them where he said "now we can get on a real label like Metal Blade". maybe now is the time for this? as a fan i want to see them get the distribution and promotion they deserve, and maybe a more metal minded label in america will do them right...

sorry, now i'm just rambling

This is the dark side of having so much contact with the fans. What do they expect us to think? Ever since the recording of 2 Evils things have been strange. Everything has been misinformation, again and again. I suppose it's none of our business, but this isn't like any "reunion" in history; Joey and Dan aren't officially back in the band, John and Rob aren't officially out, so they say, so WHO THE FUCK IS ANTHRAX??? That is why I, for one, can't just sit back and say nothing. This makes no fucking sense. Scott's cryptic comments just make less sense. Why are they hiding? Just make a fucking decision and deal with the consequences, for fuck's sake. I may not like it (if the reunion is permanent, which is certainly how everything official from the band is making it look), but I'll accept it. I'm really just fucking irked at how it appears that John has been treated, but again, that's just how it appears on the outside. I dunno; since the reunion, I'm not the fan I used to be.

As for Dimebag inspiring the reunion, Charlie let it slip in an interview that the idea went as far back as last summer.

I bothered to read the whole discussion on Blabbercockintheirmouth and then counted comments. It's 40 for John Bush to 23 for Joey Belladonna. People seem to have common sense after all.

Maybe the flushing 2 years down the toilet has something to do with being on Sanctuary LOL. They need to get that contractual shit out of the way with this reunion before they'd ever want to continue with John, as WCFYA was their best record and got no push at all, and they didn't want that to happen again with the follow-up. Hopefully they straighten things out with John and at least let HIM know what's up if they aren't letting the fans know, that way something can happen with John in the future if they want it to.

Agreed. However, I'm not entirely sure that the compilations. live albums, dvd will do that much better. If they don't, I'm pretty sure Anthrax will be over or making farewell tours for a long time to come. Very sad. What an unlucky band Anthrax have been.

if this is true then this is my last post on here. not that i came on here much or that my opinion was even noticed, but there you go.
John, whatever you do ill buy it!

I’ve said this on another post, but I think in light of what’s happening, it needs said again. In defence to all the cryptic stuff coming from the Thrax camp, when your with a record company you cant say any shit about them, you’ve got a contract with them and that’s that. You’ve basically signed your life to them for however many years. If you want them to keep promoting you and not really shitting on you big time, you gotta play nice. That’s the way I see it from where I sit. Mr Wu and the rest of the guys cant say what’s going on even if they want to. If they break the contract in any way, then they can end up owing thousands, lose the rights to the band name, the rights to any merc sold, basically lose everything theyve worked all there life for. I don’t think they’ve done this for the money, I think they’ve done it for there jobs and so they have a future making music. It’s the record company who’s making the money from this reunion.
The only down side to that is all the bashing there getting now, and the fans there loosing.
I don’t know if that’s the situation, as I said its only how I see it. I suppose were just gonna have to wait an see if the truth ever comes out. Remember how long it took when Joey left!!! I just know that whatever happens, I’m gonna be there in the front row shaking my bald head like a madman, cause when all is said an done, ITS ANTHRAX BABY :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

That's unfortunately VERY TRUE you guys.

very well put.

the death of anthrax is upon us, i am sad

not just for the loss of john, but the death of anthrax

the kiss revival years are here, .....the only way is down..........

Hmm. So if they guys in AnthraX do what their company wants them t do they loose the right to the name and merchendise and so on? I get a vision of Sanctuary reloacating AnthraX to a sweatshop in India. Hire five indian kids and let them tour with ThraX-songs.

"We´ve found that this is the most efficient version of AnthraX and we... what, the original members? No, these are the original... yes the singers name has always been Sanjay. Sanjay Turban, Sanjay Bellardini and Sanjay Bush... sir, could you please leave... Security!"

Get a grip people! Trying to pull a guilt trip over on Anthrax? Geez...Bitching about the situation isn't going to solve a goddamn thing. Just get over it and move on. I know many of you are upset, but this negativity isn't helping the moral here.

ThraxMan

They wrote a juicy story, thats what they do. Calm down everybody! Just thrive on whats goin' down now because its good. The Myan callendar ends in 2012 if ya want to worry about something how about the end of life as we know it? This article sucks! It seems they want it all to fail. Bush or Joey. I wouldn't wipe my ass with that rag now anyway. Yesterday morning, I told Scott to "Do everything you can, with whoever you can, whenever you can." What will happen? Who knows? Revolver doesn't have any say in the matter they just want to sell their rag. Don't give up hope for what you want, just let it be known.

It´s amazing how some people have this "romantic" idea of the music as if it´s not an industry, the artists are millionaires and they should do it all "for the fans"....

let´s get things straight...

artists do it for the art, for the passion of making it. (romance ends here)
not for the audience (unless you like pre-fabricated artists like Backstreet Boys, Britney and most pop stuff)

artists need to profit from their art, otherwise they would need "day jobs" and that situation sucks.

so, to bash anthrax because they do things "for the money" is ridiculous... of course it´s for the money, it´s their fucking jobs!

ok, it´s a dream job, but that requires talent and not everybody has it!

regarding WCFYA selling too little copies... well, let´s count how many users have mp3s of that...that should get rates up a little... record companies are waiting too much to rethink music as a product. the world has changed and the music industry is stuck, harming the artists in the process.

i told this once... we, as fans, should be grateful for what we get... it´s a blessing. we have to support the band and not act like selfish cunts and complain all the time.

GO GET A LIFE!

by the way, the southamerican tribute to Anthrtax is coming...have you heard these songs yet???
www.anthrax.com.br/indiansnot

i love anthrax, both of its main lineups and i try to support them.
i´d do the same for other bands if the let me. (as a matter of fact, COC´s Woody has let me do a brazilian tribute to them, so wait for that...)

c´mon boys, be grateful and stop turning message boards into whining pools.

I guess I could believe that there is a contract preventing them saying anything (although that is a bit unbelievable; but, I know nothing about the behind-the-scenes of the entertainment industry), but I can't believe this whole tour is a record-company thing. Of course, the new records benefit the record company, but the tour? What role does a record company usually play in tours, anyway?
