Looking for female-fronted metal bands, I need your help!

Female-fronted metal is by far my favorite of all the "sub-genres" (if you will) of metal! I tend to prefer stuff with female vocals that is more in the vein of power metal, but here's a list of some that fall into that area as well as a few symphonic (somewhat progressive maybe, I typically don't like real progy stuff) female fronted metal bands that your woman might like. Sorry if I got a little carried away. :loco: Like I said, I really love this stuff! I'm heavily involved in a lot of promotion for female fronted metal here in the states and am the co-founder/co-promoter of the US' premier female-fronted metal festival, Flight of the Valkyries, which was started in 2007 in St. Paul, MN. You and your lady might also want to check out some more of the bands listed on our MySpace friends and those mentioned here on the FotV forum on UM. Hope this helps you and her in your search! :headbang:

I really like the female fronted metal. In fact, Dandelium is a project thought to have a female singer (although I have to find the right one yet ¬¬)

I love Angtoria's orchestras, awesome songwrtigin, poor metal production for my taste...

I totally agree with you on the songwriting, but what do you mean by poor production? Just wondering. I thought the album sounded great. I'm no sound engineer, but I've always thought the production on the album sounded really clean. Did you not like the mix or something?

Might not be 100% what you're looking for, but I'm a big fan of "Battle of Mice" and "Made Out Of Babies" - the singer in these bands is Julie Christmas, and she has an awesome range.

Well, as I do all the production for my band i'm used to compare sounds and analyse every album I listen to from a mixing engineer point of view.

The Angtoria album "God Has A Plan For Us All" guitars sound really thin for my taste and so the drums. If those elements fail in a production, everything else comes down too.

I'm not saying it sounds bad, but it could sound better for my taste.
Maybe they wanted guitars and drums to be always behind the orchestra and voice, i wouldn't have done it that way.

Anyways they're big influence to me in all the orchestra songwriting :D

best regards
-Erik

Seriously check out Beautiful Sin, that woman has the definition of 'strong' vocals.
Hell yes! :headbang: I love Magali Luyten's voice, but the power behind Beautiful Sin really comes from Uli Kusch's writing. Magali has another band, Virus IV, which is really amazing, but it doesn't have as much power, nor as many hooks in the writing as Beautiful Sin's stuff IMO.

I can definitely second Fear Of God 'Within The Veil". Vocally and lyrically one of my favorite releases of all time. The dark lyrics are made all the more painful knowing that their singer, Dawn Crosby, basically drank herself to death in her twenties. A phenomenal album.

The way I end up finding new bands is by checking out top friends on some bands myspace friends lists. Another way is searching for a band like Nightwish on Amazon, and look at the "others also purchased" list in the middle of the page, then just listening to samples or finding their myspace pages.
