Mark IV Melodeath (Plec master - outboard, outboard, outbard)

Erik, is there any particular tracks or whatnot you'd like to know about? There was stuff printed everywhere. Mostly however on the drums, bass & vox.

Kick had the Distressor on there.
Snare had the 160VU.
Drumbus had the Overstayer, running in parallel, distortion mode, blending in some really full on pumping (which is where that density/movement on the drums is from).

Bass had like everything.... I think I ran it through the Millennia, 1176 D and also the Distressor. The main software stuff there was the C4 and limiter, and a paragraphic EQ.

Vocals had 2 pieces. I first printed them through the Distressor, on Dist 3 mode, as I would when tracking. Then they ran into the 1176 in the mix, as well as a significant number of software processors.

@Sacha: I run multiple passes of conversion. I have entertained the idea of an SSL x-patch system, but at the moment it's a bit more hassle than it's worth, as I haven't noticed any significant, or audible degrading of the audio content after the maximum 3 or so passes I do.

Also forgot to mention the other Overstayer compressor went on the Synths. This is the place where the Overstayer really shines... getting the synths in your face, gritty and wide, especially with distortion mode. I think I did another printing pass of the first Overstayer on the backing vox as well. Not sure how I feel about that TBH. I've been wanting a stereo LA-2 clone for a while to use for backings, because the Overstayer has a bit of particular sound that only works on certain sources... I'm not yet sure that vox are one of them.

I did even more printing on a recent single I mixed, but apparently the band disliked it. They were shooting for something closer to my old (almost totally ITB) mixes. So you know, can't please everyone. One person's 'huge!' is another person's 'muddy!'.
