God, you're TOTALLY RUINING my whole festival experience.

I'm banking on running into a few obviously metal people at the airport and sort of attaching myself to them to at least get into the city center. I was planning to take the light rail > taxi.

There's good public transit from the airport to downtown. It goes into Penn Station, which is about ten or so blocks from the venue. A bit of a hike but best you can do without a taxi.

Eh I'm used to walking a lot and I'll only have a backpack, shouldn't be too bad! Thanks.

How "serious" is the mosh situation? I left myself only a week to find decent footwear, right now it's all sneakers and high heels which won't do.

Sneakers should be fine. Unless you plan to mosh then you won't get roughed up. I don't recall any of our contingent ever getting hurt. Bruised, perhaps.
