nah it has a weird charm that's hard to find elsewhere. clearly just a bunch of dumb (actually dexter was a molecular biologist tbf) kids raised on TSOL and the dead kens, but there's nothing wrong with that.

there are a few weak tunes on that album though, IGNITION is probs their objective best. they sold out a little harder with every album til they became complete shit (though still better than a lot of their mainstream peers in fairness).

i don't think the debut is really, it's super amateurish but it's a sincere attempt at fitting into an old school tradition. everything else is, to varying degrees. it doesn't really become offputting to me until their fifth or sixth album but i'm not gonna pretend to be objective about a band i obsessed over when i was 12 lol

Offspring is awesome.

They are a level up from Green Day in terms or punkish authenticity. I have to admit that I like Green Day too, though their most recent material is crap. I prefer traditional punk like The Ramones, GG Allin, The Clash, and hardcore punk to the more modernised mainstream stuff. I don't know if you'd call them punk or not, but The Cure are great as well.

Thrash is so much better than most punk, it has actual musicianship. once I got into thrash I left punk behind practically for good. Green Day are catchy af but I don't really consider them punk post-Dookie.
