Melodic Death Metal

I don't see a difference.

a little off-topic, but do you people consider Tiamat death metal or black metal or gothic metal?

Melo-Death
and Melodic Death are the same thing...right?

I have explained this COUNTLESS MOTHERFUCKING TIMES on this forum...go look for my explanation in the rec forum (in the melo-death thread there). For purposes of this thread I have lumped them together.

You clearly need to get to know some actual good melodic death then. Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds and Once Sent From The Golden Hall would be a good start if you already like Amon Amarth, considering their new shit isn't that good.

Bah, they take it too far with genre classification sometimes. If Melodoc Death Metal were so different from Melo-Death then I think they should just call it something else.

Dark Tranquillity

Somewhere between doom and death:
Amorphis
Swallow the Sun
Insomnium

I love Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity the most.

As for Gothenburg styled Melo-Death, At The Gates-SOTS is by far the best album I've heard in the genre with In Flames-The Jester Race a close second.

The other style of MDM I would say Edge Of Sanity-Purgatory Afterglow is my fav if you consider it MDM.

Dark Tranquillity-Character and The Gallery and The Absence-From Your Grave and Riders Of The Plague also deserve a mention.
