Just out of curiosity, would you regard yourself as a “ ture metahead” that listens wholly to metal and consider the other genres outside of metal pretty worthless?

Or are you open-minded and be willing to explore what non-metal music offers?

These days, it's more like I'm a non-metalhead, but am willing to explore what metal has to offer. Contemporary metal is usually ugly, boring, depressive, and/or just plain crap, which only exists to waste my time, money and bandwidth.

I am very open-minded and just listen to whatever I think sounds good. No "true" this or "true" that.

I also somewhat find most of today’s metal rather derivative, bland and lacking new ideas myself.

metal is just another genre of music that i listen to. its my favorite and i do listen to it more than other genres but i listen to rock almost as much. so i cant really say im a diehard metal fanatic.

I listen mostly to metal with some prog rock and some other stuff mixed in. To say that most of today's metal is bland and derivative may be true, but there are still 15-20 years worth of metal, most of which I haven't heard. If today's stuff isn't cutting it, go back a few years. I know it will take a very long time before I have to wait for new releases in order to hear something "new".

I listen to all genres of music. Different genres of music effect me in different ways. Most often I listen to metal, but I own quite a few non-metal cd's that I listen to, just not as much on a regular basis as my metal cd's.

Well said. Most of what I choose to listen to is metal, but diversity is good. Classical, jazz, rock, Renaissance chamber music, Gregorian chant, etc...However, metal does indeed have a wide array of styles that seem to satisfy any craving.

I listen only to music that appeals to my ears. Metal does that. Punk, rap, pop, country don't. I'm open-minded on music, but I don't like everything. Only the music interests me, I don't care about any ideology or philosophy that some bands want to promote.
