MLB/Baseball 2014-2015

Wow 17 runs and 28 hits, tons of offensive. Hopefully things go well for the Pirates tomorrow. It should be one hell of game like last year. This city will go nuts if they win again.

Wow. That was an all-timer. I don't think KC's shitty baseball fans quite deserve it, but that was a legendary comeback.

What are you talking about? I have lived here for 10 years and they are definitely passionate fans. You have to remember KC is like 1/8 the size of Chicago. BTW I am a Cubs fan.

Their home game attendance was terrible for a team in a pennant race. Milwaukee is a much smaller market and drew much better.

The cost of going to a baseball game is wildly overstated. No one is holding a gun to people's heads and making them eat and drink at the park. People can eat at home (at least some parks allow packaged foods from the outside), and drink out of a flask in the stadium bathroom. KC was drawing under 20K for a ton of games. Is the park inaccessible or something?

Milwaukee is considered a smaller media market, if not smaller metro. But Milwaukee averaged 10,000 more per game. They outdrew the Cubs, Mets, Blue Jays, Nats, O's, and Pirates. Being small doesn't stop you from filling your park. The only teams that finished below KC were all bottom dwellers or have notoriously poor stadium situations.

Anytime I go to the K the place is rockin. Is it packed? No, but it gets loud & is always a fun place to watch a game. Trust me KC fans care about this team.

SF can do no wrong. These guys have the collective horseshoe up their ass. Two Cy Young caliber pitchers go down or start sucking? Doesn't matter. Bring in 50 year olds Tim Hudson and Jake Peavy? Both great. Sign a very ineffective Barry Zito to a contract that would cripple all but the richest franchises? No big deal, win World Series anyway. Lineups full of veteran journeymen? All of them will be clutch as hell right before completely fading from relevance.

Bumgarner is such a hick too.

Obviously a disappointing end to the season tonight but the Pirates had a great year and have a lot to be proud of with what they've accomplished in the last two seasons. They overcame a ton of injuries and gave the fans here a bunch of great moments to remember. They just didn't have an answer for Bumgarner tonight, oh well. I'm already looking forward to next season. Hopefully they resign Martin and hopefully Pulanco comes back with more maturity and improves with the experience he gained this season. The people in Pittsburgh really love this team with a passion and we want them to succeed. Hopefully the ownership and management take the necessary steps in the offseason to make sure they build on what they've already achieved.

I'm rooting for the Pirates too. (Obviously to a limit, as a Cubs fan.) They totally screwed up by not saving Cole for this game though. I think Martin is going to command at least $55M/4 in free agency, so I kind of doubt PIT can bring him back at that price, nor should they on their budget. Being too cheap to bring back Burnett was a costly mistake though. The management did not seem 100% committed to winning in that regard, and they didn't go in at the trade deadline either. If the Cubs sign Martin, which I don't really think they should, the smart move for both sides would be to ship Welington Castillo to PIT.

PNC Park is also my favorite road stadium to watch on TV. I'd like to get there sometime. I'd much rather watch the Pirates make a deep run than the vile Cardinals.

When people say it's the most beautiful Baseball park in the world, they aren't exaggerating. Every time I've been there it looked brand new. Like it was just built. Not to mention the food is really good and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I was there a few weeks ago with a friend and had a fucking blast. This team was meant to play in that park surrounded with those fans. It's just an amazing atmosphere to be in believe me. The next step for the pirates is winning a playoff series and maybe even winning the division. And of course ending this miserable World Series drought.

Don't talk about World Series droughts. Cubs, Brewers, Nationals, Indians, Astros, Mariners, Padres, and Rangers fans don't want to hear it. Rays and Rockies fans, too, if there are any. People tend to not remember the White Sox didn't win between 1917 and 2005.

With 30 teams, it's inevitable that some go 30+ years without winning, if championships were somehow equally distributed. With all the variance involved in baseball, I feel like 50 years is a true drought. There's a lot of competition. It seems quite possible that at least 5-10 franchises will not win in my lieftime. I think 15 have won in the last 30 years, and that's probably a fair expectation for any 30 year period.

You do have a point but the Pirates went over two decades without even making the playoffs. Baseball in Pittsburgh went from a thriving pastime with a rich history in the Pirates to almost disappearing completely and becoming a laughing stock. I know other teams haven't even won a World Series and I probably do sound greedy but I still obviously would like to see another World Series victory or a couple of them in the near future come our way. Some of my bitching IS justified. When you suck that hard for that long and then suddenly see a turn towards former glory it's hard not to think like that. I'm just sick of ESPN going goo goo over the Yankees all the time forgetting the history and impact of other teams. I mean eventually the Yankees will retire every possible player number in existence because they think just about every steroid shooting creep who can't keep his dick in his pants is hall of fame material. Yankees dynasty this and Yankees dynasty that blah blah. All of the truly great Yankees are long dead anyways. Time for some else to have a turn. I feel your pain is what I'm trying to say.

Besides the Cubs drought is just obscene it's not even fair to compare it to anyone else's. MLB should just let them have the Commissioner's Trophy to make Cubs fans feel better.

I love all the SF haters in here. It's called excellent pitching. They're going to win it again, calling it now. Bochy is genius, they don't have the best team but they have tons of experience and excellent management. Counts for a lot.

And fuck the Dodgers. They always choke somehow, it's hilarious. They have the most dislikeable personalities, Kershaw and Ellis are the only two I don't actively despise.

The Royals are fucking crazy. Sweeping the two best teams in the regular season, despite having a mediocre at-best roster (except for the bullpen which is one of the better ones in baseball). Surreal... and hopefully the Giants beat the Cardinals. I fucking hate St. Louis, and I want them out ASAP.

Oh, and the Dodgers hired Friedman from Tampa Bay as the new Pres. of Baseball Ops. Excellent hire for them.

The National League is screwed if Friedman is going to have a $200+ million payroll to work with along with the best pitcher in the world and a very good minor league system already in place. That team shouldn't miss the playoffs for the next decade.

I can't believe the Royals. I'm having a hard time even bringing myself to root for them. It's been too easy for them. Of course I would root for literally anyone other than the Cardinals, and anyone other than the Yankees over the Giants.

The Royals lineup construction is so dumb too. How they can bat their best hitter 6th and be rewarded for it is baffling. Gordon and Perez are really their only good hitters, but if they only need 2 runs to win, I guess that's fine.
