My Sporadic Update Thread

hope everyone's doing OK on the real-life front. i started a side venture within a company and has been busy with that trying to bring in extra income and hopefully in some years, be financially independent.

we also got the news that we are expecting a baby boy in march. the real sex-deciding ultrasound is in 5 weeks, so lets hope that thing between the kid's legs doesn't disappear.

been busy with this:

she is awesome J! How old is she now?
and congrats on the upcoming one. second time around should be easier.

Some long days at work, seeing a little kid totally awestruck by the simplest things, smiling, happy, curious, outgoing, and all that seems like the only thing that keeps me from losing it.

this is so true :kickass:

second one was born two days ago. he's pure Aryan, blonde hair, blue eyes. he's hung like a two day old

Congratulations!

Since I'm too lazy to bump the baby thread, I'll just hijack this one and tell everyone that we've got our second on the way too, so here it goes:

We've got our second baby on the way yay!

i already knew this but gratz, i'm personally hoping for a boy (for balance's sake) (balance is important just ask the chinese)

also because no offense to girls but if you're gonna go with the whole nordic theme again with the names then there are a lot more real bad-ass nordic male names like THORGRIMUR

OK, I need some help. After over a year, I finally gave in to my wife's request that I go see a therapist (what they call a psychiatrist down here, so as not to imply you're batshit crazy), and yep, I'm batshit crazy. Not really, but according to the Doc (who is actually really cool), I do have emotional problems stemming from not properly mourning my mother's death two years ago. On top of that, I'm stressed from two kids, have a strained relationship with the wife (not really, but it could be better. i think this applies to everyone), have a strained relationship with my dad, I despise my job, I'm emotionally detached from society and I also have anger management problems. I'm also anti-social. According to the Doc I have "Anxiety and Depression Disorder", if such a thing can be diagnosed.

I'm not on meds yet (i hate meds), but he did schedule 1 appointment for the next 4 weeks. I was prescribed anti-anxiety meds after my mom died, but quit taking them soon after. I still have them.

So, of course, the subject of "What music do you listen to?" came up. I was completely honest in my answer. I listen to music for at least 3 hours a day on average. He hasn't said so, but I'm sure in our next session he'll tell me to listen to some more soothing, less angry or morose music. So, I ask you, the RC Faithful, what are some bands that play soothing, tranquil music. Please, I'm not looking for pop music like R Kelly or Faith Hill. I brainstormed a little and I came up with later Anathema (is it still sad? I don't know), later Ulver, some of Stephen Wilson's other projects (I really like PT), Failure, and maybe stuff along the lines of the uplifting Jesu stuff. Hell, I don't know. Lets just keep it respectable, so I can at least keep some of my metal dignity.

Cheers.

I was just thinking earlier today that I need to find a shrink. It's been nearly a decade and I miss the release. As for the meds, better living through chemistry, I always say. I love Prozac, but that's just me.

As for music that picks me up, I generally head to the 80's. Whether it's hair metal or pop songs, the 80's had some gems. I also listen to Strunz and Farah quite a bit when I need something upbeat yet relaxing.

Of course you can always look to jazz and classical...or, alternately, Lycia is bloody fantastic in terms of soothing music, imo, but some might say it's depressing.

I'll need to come back to this thread when I'm a little more sober.

Aside from the anger managment issues, J.'s plight sounds eerily similar to my own. I believe it's a pretty widespread phenomena really. I call it "Guys in Their Early Thirties Syndrome".
But this is about J.. Not about the dorian.

So...yeah: classical. Also, when I recently removed my system from my car in order to sell it, I reinstalled the original radio/tape deck and so was forced to listen to radio. I found a local jazz station and it's pretty........jazzy. It makes me feel good. Try it out if you have a good local one.
