Need some ORIGINAL bands...

then you obviously have no idea about their influences. they consider themselves an amalgamation of neo folk and something like post doom/rock

neo folk = Current 93, Sol Invictus, Of the wand and the Moon, Tenhi, october falls, etc...

I would say agalloch are some sort of doom, acoustic, goth hybrid. Some folky influences definently- with mandolin and such.

Another band-

Melt Banana (pretty stupid IMO but some people like it). Weird stuff...japanese female vocalist I believe. The vocals are VERY strange.- Not really metal.

I like them. I guess that means I'm pretty stupid IMO.

Anyone mentioned Teen Cthulhu yet. They're...OK get this: SYMPHONIC HARDCORE. And they fucking rule. Listen to them. Download or buy (somehow) Ride The Blade. They broke up, but that CD is fucking awesome.

Also, Melt-Banana rules but they take forever to get into. I had to listen to Charlie like 5 times to even appreciate it.

!T.O.O.H.! is some sort of psychotic grindcore act with many influences. It's definetly a great band. They come from Czech Republic and you can hear it.

J Mann: How old/recent is that picture of Garden of Shadows?

The chick from Estuary used to be in GoS, and I can't really tell if that's her in the picture or not.

I think it was a pic used in the album booklet of "Oracle Moon" which came out in 2000. I don't think it's Zdenka Prado of Estuary, but rather Mary one of the guitarists.
