New Children of Bodom vs Old Children of Bodom. The Argument.

If AYDY and Blooddrunk had the same tone as HB and FTR, they would be nearly as awesome as I get to know them. Both - old and new Bodom got some bad and good aspects... Old Bodom was great because of the tone, the complexity of the songs and the better solos of Alexi. New Bodom is great because of the more melodic chorus parts, Alexis better voice (I really like his old voice in live shows though) and the more aggressive drop C songs. All in all I don't want old Bodom back. I know this area is over, the magic of Bodom is gone since AYDY, the growing of thousands of little fanbois and America and now I'm curios about what comes next.

There has been heaps of stuff going around about Old Children of Bodom being way better then the Current/New Children of Bodom.

All this talk about the albums after Hate Crew Deathroll being so lame.

I dont agree with this. I believe Children of Bodom still produce amazing music. I do prefer there previous albums such as Hatebreeder, but im still insanely in love with Are You Dead Yet? and Blooddrunk :D

Children of Bodom also shouldve released a new album rather than "Skeletons in the Closet", a cover album. But its still good i guess :D

Whats your view on "New Children of Bodom vs Old Children of Bodom"?
AGREE ! thought old riffs are amazing:kickass:

You speak SOME truth. But, i've been into bodom for a while and have lived through the phases FTR and on as a fan. NOW, i like all bodom, since they are indeed the greatest band EVER. I think it's just this, your definition of "nooblet" is anyone coming into COB fanhood post AYDY and hence likes AYDY and BD more. I Like all the albums, my favorite is hatebreeder, but i see NOTHING wrong with AYDY and BD, it's just musical evolution. Anyone who can't roll with that needs to just get over it. Your complaining won't change the course of their musical thought.

Dude, your 100% spot on.

I think you misunderstand a little. dont get me wrong, i LIKE aydy and blooddrunk, but the fact that anyone would try to compare them with FTR or hatebreeder is laughable at best. and i also beleive you are wrong with your last statement about me complaining. I think if enough fans reject a newer style of a band, they will start to experiment again, even if it sacrifices a few new fans, but i guess we'll see.

Well thats what i mean by musical evolution. They CONSTANTLY experiment with new stuff, and lately a lot of people frown upon, yet don't completely HATE the changes. Now, even if the rejection were make them further experiment, it would in no way mean the music would move in a direct you or anyone else finds more suitable. That's what i meant, that even though opinions may make them want to change, it doesn't mean they'll change in a way supporting the specific want of the greater bodom fanbase (the TRUE fans that being). I don't know though, no one does, in my eyes speculation on such things is kinda pointless :Smug: but, it's fun to imagine. :)

I dunno if its just me but does anyone else get annoyed at Alexi's vocals? They sound good but he purposely makes the words unclear. It would be better if he did a LOG style vocal, like his current ones but with LOG you can understand what Randy is saying. The newer vocals are more clear so I like the newer COB better and I feel the new songs have a better structure, like the speed runs at the end of songs on HB are cool but kinda lame at the same time. You can understand the HB song lyrics better on the CRY DVD cus of the more recent vocals

I also like the old and the new stuff. But for me I can see a difference between the old and the new material.
The old stuff seemed to be more "childish" - means curious, playfull, colourfull, "the guitar has to have the last word in the song - nah, the keyboard!". (I hope you get, what I´m trying to say.)
This thing I miss a lot if it comes to the new material. But the new songs are also very good.
And I can see why the stuff had changed. Everyone changes, every life changes and also the taste changes.
And there is always the urge to move on with the art that you´re doing, if you are an artist - no matter: musician, painter, writer. Everyone wants to go on, to grow on, to do better or different stuff. I think, that these are some of the reasons, why their music changed.
And even if I like the old stuff a bit more, I think the change is a a good thing too. Because they changed in a good way. They sound a little bit more grown up now. Not the little, playfull boys anymore - who already knew what and how to do. But grown up men, who are aware of what they can do and what they want to do. And they do it also in a great way. So, yes, I miss the playfull banter of the old songs. But I enjoy the compact sound of the new ones also.

Yeah... the old COB is childish, while the new is so heavy and mature.

Emo.

I have absolutely no problem with metal vocals being impossible to understand lyric wise. Alexi has a good few styles he uses live, even one that's actually got Lamb of God'ish taste to it, like on the live videos of Angels Don't Kill and Sixpounder (In Your Face DVD.) For me the best vocals on the COB studio albums are on Follow the Reaper (especially on Everytime I Die) and some of Hatebreeder (the ones you can least understsand and that are not growling.) One exiting thing about the newer vocals is Alexi can blur his singing at the worse lyrical parts and when there's a particularly cool lyric part he can clear it a bit so the audience can understand.

FUck... I almost forgot you had lost your spacebar

however the weekend is soon over, but we will have a new weekend next weekend. :) :)

How is it that every thread degrades into new vs old argument, but when there's an actual thread for it, it degrades into spam?

Should people just accept both suck, and stop? (j/k of course) :loco:

Also, Cheescake>>>>>>>Alexi
