NFL 2008

I got impatient and joined an ESPN fantasy league quick tangs for my football draft fix. I had a shit drafting position but this is who I got:

Ben Roflsberger
Brian Westbrook
Selvin Young
Dwayne Bowe
Marques Colston
Reggie Wayne
Jason Witten
Colts Defense
Rob Bironas (kicker)

Bench:
DeAngelo Williams
Joey Galloway
Aaron Rodgers
Steelers Defense
Vincent Jackson
Kevin Boss
JaMarcus Russell

I drafted Rodgers and Russell mainly as prospects. They could be good or bad, either way I drafted them with my last two picks and cock blocked some people from getting them. Most of the guys left were scrubs or other prospects I'm going to keep up on during the pre-season and regular season anyways.

I really don't like having two defenses on a team. How early did you pick them?

Especially since the Colts don't really play a powerhouse offense besides the Pats week 9 or perhaps Cinci. But their division is pretty weak offensively.

I just checked my draft order and this is how it went, I had the sixth pick mind you (which is arguably the worst in a 10-12 man league):

1. Brian Westbrook (steal at 6 for sure)
2. Reggie Wayne
3. Marques Colston
4. Ben Roethlisberger
5. Selvin Young
6. Dwayne Bowe
7. DeAngelo Williams
8. Joey Galloway
9. Colts D
10.(and the steal of the draft) Jason Witten
11. Aaron Rodgers
12. Rob Bironas
13. Vincent Jackson
14. (yet another steal imo) Kevin Boss
15. Steelers D
16. And just for the hell of it since there really wasn't shit left, JaMarcus Russell

So as you can see, I picked up the #1 ranked defense from last year in the second to last round. Granted you can only analyze last years stats so much so much but still, it's the Steelers defense, at round 15. I personally like holding two defenses regardless. The only thing I don't at least double up on is a kicker.

I had two more drafts this weekend. Here they are in order (the best I can remember at least).

Sixth pick yet again:
1. Clinton Portis
2. Peyton Manning (yeaaauhhh boyyyyyy)
3. Jamal Lewis
4. Chad Johnson
5. Jason Witten
6. Dwayne Bowe
7. Laveranues Coles
8. Donlad Driver
9. Lee Evans
10. Ahmad Bradshaw
11. Santana Moss
12. Vincent Jackson
13. Colts Defense
14. Kevin Boss
15. David Akers

and my other one...

1st pick:
1. Adrian Petereson
2. Braylon Edwards
3. Tony Romo
4. Steve Smith
5. Michael Turner
6. Marvin Harrison
7. Laveranues Coles
8. Heath Miller
9. Deuce McAllister
10. Nate Burleson
11. Rob Bironas
12. Colts Defense
13. Buccaneers Defense
14. Javon Walker
15. Amani Toomer
16. Matt Leinart

Fixed

Peyton is a steal if you got him round 2 depending on what kind of league. Yahoo leagues are pretty QB dominated if they have TD pts. as 6 instead of 4.

Well, my friend and I customized the league in just about every way instead of using the shitty default yahoo settings. Last season receivers owned the league reall. 3 pts per reception, 2 points for every 10 receiving yards etc. So if you had a pimp QB and 3 stud receivers, you pretty much owned the league. That would explain my 3 game lead, 10-3 regular season record, and the championship.
