NFL 2010

I think if the majority of players had second thoughts about striking next year, I don't think they'll think twice after these rules the NFL has put in place now

Well it's pretty stupid that you have former players complaining about the brain damage that was done and the current players complaining because the NFL is trying to mitigate the more dangerous hits.

Can't have it both ways.

God fucking damnit Saints :( Breaking my heart here.

Roddy White went the fuck off too. Jesus, best WR in the league this season by far. Consistently getting a lot of catches, consistently getting a lot of yards, consistently getting TDs.

I would trade a loss for a healthy Aaron Smith. Today is a bad day for the Steelers. Smith has a torn triceps and is done for the season and, at 35, possibly for his career. This is the third year in the last 4 that Smith has had a season ending injury. Hopefully they are better equipped to compensate for his absence this year than they were last year with Ziggy Hood being in his second year now. Brett Keisel getting back and healthy is at an absolute priority now, as the Steelers are down to four healthy linemen right now.

There was some suspect playcalling today, especially the very vanilla run scheme employed. The Steelers got nothing done on the ground all day. The Dolphins fared far worse until Smith left the game, though they still managed only very modest success. The Steelers continue to stifle teams for below team average rushing performances, but allow above team average passing performances. The failure to get pressure on 3 and 4 man rushes is the main culprit. LeBeau did not put a premium on pressure, which he should have.

Roethlisberger looked great throwing the ball all day. I don't even want to talk about his fumbles. I'm just glad they don't show up in the passer rating, not that that's very important.

Mike Wallace is evidently good for a 40+ yard catch per game. He averages over 25 yards per catch.

Emmanuel Sanders fumbled the opening kickoff and allowed the Dolphins to get a cheap 3 point lead over the turnover, but after that, he really made up for it with 4 really nice returns, including a 48 yarder on what turned out to be the game winning drive. He also caught another key 3rd down pass for 18 yards and was in on more than one special teams tackle.

Hines Ward made multiple highlight reel type catches and plays, proving that determination is more key to success than speed or finesse.

LaMarr Woodley missed the majority of the game with a hamstring tweak. On running downs, Timmons shifted to outside linebacker and Larry Foote stepped back into his old spot on the inside. On passing downs, rookie Jason Worilds saw significant time, and he did very well in his limited capacity. He pressure Chad Henne on the last two plays of the game and made sure he couldn't make a play, so I'm pleased with that.

And I'm pleased with the W, but the loss of Smith is going to hurt them this year much more than an L at this point of the season would have. I already predict the Saints to beat them next week. The Steelers have a number of things to work on; some of them will not get fixed, and some of them can not.

And no. Saints are going to be destroyed by the Steelers. THE BROWNS shat all over this team. Fucking disgrace. Don't even know what is going on with this team other than them just NOT executing.

Just step it up and beat them dang Steelers! No whining!

Sounds like that fumble/recovery call went properly according to the rules, but it also seems like a rule that ultimately caused a wrong outcome. A rule change is probably in order.

San Diego Super Chargers. What a bunch of n00bs. Stupid mistake after stupid mistake. Rivers is still great, but is surrounded by an ever changing cast of characters. I thought for sure they would win this game... until it started. Then we had a chance, but did not pull it out, as has been the norm these days. No pun intended.

I have every bit of confidence in the Saints talent. What I have zero confidence in is their ability to fucking execute and win games.

4-3 with losses to the CARDINALS AND BROWNS. Falcons loss wasn't such a big deal as their offense is potent as hell.

Just irks me that outside of 2007 the team with the #1 ranked offense in the league over the least 4 years lets things like this happen. It can't be the lack of a running game because they couldn't run it in 2006, 2007, or 2008, and it sure as hell isn't the defense because they played fairly well (held the browns to 16 points on offense), but those damn turnovers ...

Brees just will NOT stop throwing them. Its getting absurd. He leaeds the league in INTs ffs. Over people like ALEX FUCKING SMITH and JAY CUTLER

Goddamn dude. Decision making doesn't regress THAT much in one YEAR.

I think Reggie Bush just might be more important to this team than most people realize.

but he also leads the league in TD passes ... but a 14-10 does NOT cut it.

Obviously you're more informed on the ins and outs of the Saints than I am, but I also believe that you're more apt to react emotionally to outcomes, so I guess there are multiple reasons I feel more strongly about the Saints' chances of beating the Steelers than you do. I honestly wouldn't feel too bad about losing to the Browns, they're actually a much better team than their record. The only game this year they didn't have a lead in the fourth quarter was last week against the Steelers. Of course Brees didn't have a very good day either.

Your thoughts on the call that basically decided the game - the fumble the Dolphins "didn't" recover?

I have lots of thoughts on this. I believe that they got everything right here. Upon initial view of the play, it was obviously ruled a touchdown. The line judge closest to the play was the one on the right side, to whom Roethlisberger had his back, and he was the one who came in to make the call to signal a touchdown, as he believed Roethlisberger broke the plane before losing possession. After the ruling of the touchdown, the play was dead, so the referees were not concerned with who recovered the ball. Though a Dolphin came out of the pile of humanity with the ball, Roethlisberger, Doug Legursky, and Jonathan Scott all claimed to have a piece of it (and watching the replay reveals that they certainly had their say deep within that mess), and that they released the ball once the referees came in and told them to clear out of the pile because it was a touchdown, which they began to do immediately after the ruling of touchdown was signaled. The referee obviously made the right call in overturning the touchdown and ruling it a fumble; this is obvious to anybody with eyes. What is also obvious is that it is not obvious what the outcome of that scrum would have been had the initial ruling of touchdown not been in place and the referees broke up the pile. Therefore, he made the correct ruling in returning the ball to the fumbling team when it is inconclusive upon review if anybody had clear possession as the play was blown dead. I do not believe that this call should be a legitimate controversy, although I can understand why it will probably turn out that way. It could be argued that the right line official should have allowed the play to run its course, an argument that has merit, but that is merely hindsight. He believed that he had the correct ruling and they wanted to minimize the risk of injury involved in having 350 pound men lying on top of one another.

Edit: I agree that Reggie Bush is more important than most people believe to the Saints' success and have believed that for years.

The Steelers beat the Dolphins today. I live in Pittsburgh and I'm pissed lol. I love when they lose, seeing the disappointment on everyone's face fills my heart with joy.

I agree, I think you guys have a franchise QB. I don't think he's going to be great but I'd say in 2-3 years he'll be in the 10 - 15 club.

P.S Bradford is going to be top 5 one day
