Proud metalhead for the last 24 years!


Not to say I don't like other styles, I do. But I am really, really, really beginning to hate classic rock. After working on the line at Chrysler for the last 15 years, hearing the same mediocre pap day in, day out, really gets on my nerves. Nothing like having the knuckle-draggers I work with crank up the 'ol Steve Miller "flatulent four" ad nauseum till eternity. Slamming my hand in car door there was a more pleasant experience that putting up with that shit.


That said, there's a lot of old stuff I do like.... ....like the stuff you never hear on radio.


I swear, if I hear Jerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" one more time I'm bringing in a shotgun!

The Starting Line + Paramore show I saw last year is the best I think I've ever been to.

 

[Metal Overload]

I just want to say:

-I´m Metal head.
-I like to say that i´m.
-Never ashamed of being it.
-Never considered to leave it, or hide it, Or "change my horizons", or "gonna listen other things for a while and comeback and see if i like metal more than ever or i don´t like it anymore" or "it was just a step in my life"
-whenever i can, i show I like Metal.
-I don´t always wear metal T-shirts.
-I don´t Crank metal in my car.
-I don´t like 99% of Black Metal.
-I think, gore, porno grind gore and those genres, are not metal.
-I try to convert potential metalheads.
-I respect other styles, but like to make jokes about why metal is better than any other stuff.
-I would talk about metal in front of people, like in conference or forum, i mean there´s conferences agains metal (mostly christian church enthusiasts) why not to do a "Pro metal meeting".
-i used to be a metal arrogant "you all are posers" kind of guy, when i was like 14.
-I hate the word "Poser"
-I do enjoy other genres.
-Why i´m proud of being a metalhead?? what metal has to say "im proud" if it´s only music?? well, it´s about identity, about not following the trends, about being youself, about freedom, about fun, having a good time, getting the best experiences of your life, knowing friends and the best people yo can know, about community and camaraderie. about building you life, about getting mature, about getting you into a lot of different thinks, about philosofy, about EMOTIONS, release stress, about being against repression, about learning, tolerance, kindness, it´s about a fucking million of good things more.
-If this forum lasts for the next 40 years and if i live by that time, i will resurrect this thread and will say "after all this years, i´m still Metalhead" and im serious about it.

In a more personal way, im thankfull with metal, because of metal i wanted to learn Graphic desing to do cover artworks, now i live of graphic desing and never have problem to find work, because metal, i learned english, because of metal i wanted to learn guitar, because playing guitar my fiancé felt in love with me she was interested on me while i was playing "dust in the wind" (yeah, girl likes rock musicians), so in two of the more important things in my life at the moment, Metal had a lot to do.

If you like metal like me, be proud of it, you are part of a few in the world, it´s indeed something special.

If you don´t like metal and are proud of it, i salute you, if you liked metal, and are proud of leaving it, i don´t hehe.
