Official 2011 NON-Metal Thread - Hipsters Unite

it just amazed me to no end when i saw on youtube that ulver still plays their bm stuff live and is really good at it

i just randomly found out ulver stole the lyrics for vowels from this stupid (but impressive) book http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eunoia_(book) http://archives.chbooks.com/online_books/eunoia/vowels.html

EDIT:

ulver 2011

"Wars of the Roses"

1. February MMX
2. Norwegian Gothic
3. Providence
4. September IV
5. England
6. Island
7. Stone Angels

EDIT2: this is the first thing i've heard by ulver ever that i actively dislike. i am ambivalent towards some of the stuff like "themes" but this i do not enjoy

i thought it had an unpleasant aftertaste of ironic hipster indie rock

i couldn't explain why exactly, just a vibe

finally they made a song about my birthday, hope it's not as terrible as that track however...^

I think I'm going to go listen to Perdition City and Shadows of the Sun for a while and convince myself that I didn't hear this at all.

Also, that book does look fucking stupid. ""Hassan can, at a handclap, call a vassal at hand and ask that all staff plan a bacchanal".[1]

"Constrained writing"? How about constraining yourself to writing things which have some semblance of merit, beauty or art?

ha, first few tracks ... ok, this is a joke right?

listened to 3rd one just to see if anything changes. nyet!

considering having an intervention for you :loco:

How awesome would it be to beam Lurch back to the mid-1960s and have him do short album reviews, following music's evolution for the next 50 years? Think about the possibilities.

Pet Sounds (1966): "What is this fag shit? Vocal harmonies? Bike horns? Give me the TUNES, man!"
Abbey Road (1969): "Hipsters throw 8 shitty song fragments together and call it a 'suite.'' Trendfags everywhere go nuts."
Never Mind the Bollocks... (1977): "Talentless artfag yelling shit. Not enough double-bass."
Nevermind (1991): "I will never forgive Kurt Cobain for destroying LA Guns' career. Just kill yourself already. Thanks."
The World Needs A Hero (2001): "Fucking slays. A return to form. A+."

See? It practically writes itself! :tickled:

That shit is fucking TURRIBLE.
