I don't like how Christianity has an overwhelming amount of influence in politics, but with it being the major faith in America it can't be avoided.
vote for me, and ill change that

I used to study music, and the first think you learn is that all music is the same. 98% of the music put out by classical or mainstream artists follows the same basic chord progressions. It's just the words put on top of it that defines the genre.
Here is the most obvious example. Pachelbel's canon in D, which I am sure you know the sound even if you don't know the name. The same circle of fifths progression is in Vitamin C's "Graduation song" (or whatever it was called), The Beatle's "Let it Be", Aerosmith's "Cryin", and Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry." (If you google it I'm sure you can find 89341734 more examples, these are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head). All completely different genres, syles, and instrumentation.
The only difference in the bass line is the length of notes and the melody on top of it. In the end, the bass line and the melody make a song, because they are the two things the listener is going to remember.
There are countless examples of this. But of course there are exceptions, there are exceptions to everything. Embellishment and a change in instruments always helps to throw the listener off.
All I'm saying is to not discriminate against the music, but the words. The music can be all too similar and you'll end up eating your own words. I don't want to have to post and show how many classical, "pop", reggae, r&b, rock, alternative, metal, and country songs (both mainstream or non) share the exact same I-IV-V-(vii7)-I chord progression.
If the musical terms I just used confused you, then we are on two different playing fields. Even if you haven't studied music but you've played guitar or another popular instrument, you should unserstand the chord progression thing
somebody posted this in another forum, and I am wondering if those of you who know a lot about music/music theory can tell me if this is bullshit
this reeks of utter bullshit to me, but I don't know much about music theory
well... id agree with alot of that. most music does follow classic music theory. stuff that was written ages ago. and its been well discussed here that classical music had a huge influence on metal, though in a different way than whats written in that quote. but the 1 4 5 1 chord progression is pretty standard amongst all music. shit, the ramones, nirvana... they got famous on it!

so there is no difference at its core between something like necrophagist and avril lavigne?
because I was raised in a Southern Baptist church. And the fact that I went to one today doesn't really help either.
1) There are a lot of stupid Christians, apparently more than you realize. You probably live in a more liberal region of the country. Furthermore, Christianity is a propagandist, corrupt industry today.
2) There are dozens of legitimate reasons to "hate" Christianity. It's not just because it's fucking "kvlt," you delusional bastard.
Yeah, I know, but I can't help it Dad makes me go. I got 3 more years of it, then when I graduate from college I'm moving far away from Tennessee, just haven't decided on the place.fuck that! uke:

1.) There are a lot of stupid people, including Christians and every other type of religion. But that's a given, right? Or is it just Christianity that has flaws? People on here talk like Christianity raped them when they were 7.
2.) Give me some reasons to hate Christianity then, you delusional bitch.
Christianity is by far the religion that has the most political motivation and influence, which is why it's hated more than other religions. Is that really that hard to understand?
1) The Christian doctrine is one of sheer subserviance; everything that is good and moral is good and moral because God made it so and because God said so, not because it is good and moral in itself, and he requires obeisance accordingly.
2) The Bible was written with the political intention to dictate to the people how they should live their lives in a manipulative, coercive manner.
3) The Bible is used as evidence per se of its own validity, a claim directly contradictory to even the most rudimentary form of logic.
4) The assemblage of the Bible is so blatantly an intentional procedure, compiling a series of stories best suited to meet the end goals of its creator.
5) The Bible is easily interpreted in countless different ways to suit the needs of whichever Christian dogmatist is spouting his rhetoric at the time.
6) People actually claim to have spoken to God and use that as justification for their actions.
7) Christianity is quick to condemn those who do not follow their own.

That's actually the strongest point.
