Opeth gigs cancelled

Hey Agalloch, It'll be OK man. You come to Chandler this weekend and we'll tip back a few and laugh at the provincial meat-heads who couldn't feel an empathy in cocentration camp.

You idiot. This is a PHOENIX show. Tempe is just the city the venue is in. Phoenix is located directly next to Tempe, it's about a 5-10 minute drive. Phoenix has 1,100,000 people so we win. Big time.

What the fuck is your problem? Explain to me how you can justify being an asshole when I've done nothing to you whatsoever. The show is in Tempe. You said Tempe's population was bigger. I corrected you.

He's pissed that we have to wait to see Opeth because of some idiots that couldn't get their visas figured out. Then, when LA and SF get rescheduled we learn that the only show not made up is for Arizona. That's pretty fucked. They have 2 weeks in between the US and Euro tours. All we want is 90 minutes

I know that. But that problem doesn't have to do with me. I'm not the one that fucked with their visas. The band isn't at fault either.

have you guys considered other factors as to why Opeth aren't playing arizona? Maybe all the venues are booked? Maybe the management just don't want them going there because of money?

If you were going by population, it's obvious SF would win because of what commander said about the bay area. But I don't think that's the case. Maybe something happened with the scheduling and Opeth just couldn't fit a date in even if it was during their break in november.

I agree that it must feel really depressing that Opeth isn't playing in Arizona after you purchased your tickets and were getting ready for one of the best bands to touch this soil. I am in a conflict of whether I should go or not because the LA show is on sunday night, day before schoolday and I have a group project to do and if my group meets this sunday evening, I don't think I can go. I wish it was on a saturday or some other day in november.

Do you guys know if Opeth will tour US again next year? If so, I can definitely wait.

I'm guessing they will tour the hell out of this record. Im hoping they come back to America at least by Spring. Maybe as a make up for us Arizona folks they will do two nights in a row and make it a dvd shoot.

Yeah right, I'll stop dreaming now.

Now THAT would be cool :D
Okay, this is the one show that we have for the entire state of Arizona. The Marquee Theater is open the 13th, 16-18, 21 of November. Mostly, I'd just like an explanation for why only Tempe isn't being rescheduled.

Tempe is a city sure. But it's part of the greater phoenix metropolitan area and if you live in that area you realize that Tempe is Phoenix which is Scottsdale, Chandler and about 10 or so others. I live in Phoenix and live about 5 minutes from the venue the show was in. It's all part of the same community, and that community is the 5th largest in the country. Why we don't get a show is beyond me. Why this band couldn't get their fucking visas when they've toured here before and when 1,000s of other european metal bands have been able to is beyond me. Why they aren't reschedualing the show is beyond me.

But fuck it, if they don't wanna play I don't wanna see them. Porcupine Tree is in a couple weeks and at the very least I know they'll show up.

Whose fault is it? Every other band gets here, including Opeth 4 months ago. They fucked up.

OK OK, lets not turn this into a witch-hunt. We can judge when we have more info. Instead of all of us in Maricopa county (and elswhere) bitching and getting nasty w/ each other...We should be Emailing the band, the Opeth site and the record company...not to mention Luckyman productions who book like everything at the Marquee.

I think you guys should email the band, management, and whoever else books tours for Opeth. Also call the place where it would've been held and ask them why Opeth isn't coming. I think you might find answers there.

anyways, who else is going to LA show?

hmmmmmm ,, i notice that most of the hostile 'fuck opeth' remarks are coming from the new members with oct/sept join dates ....

coincidence ....???

It's perfectly reasonable to be pissed off right now, but you'll get over it. Couple of years ago APC cancelled like two days beforehand and didn't reschedule. I called the band shit for the next few months then got back into them.

Hopefully they will make it up to AZ the next time they tour.

Hello,
I recently discovered that the Opeth show for Tempe, Arizona at the Marquee
Theater would not be rescheduled. I am simply wondering why this was the only
show that was not put back on the tour and also if there would be any use in
keeping the ticket? Thank you

Chris

Response:
To make up the la and san fran shows the band had to do fly ins on off days
from the rest of the tour. We couldn't match any more off days to fit open
dates in tempe

No worries though the band is touring again in winter of 2006. We'll make up
this show then

As for your ticket I would suggest getting a refund and buy a new ticket later
in 2006 once that tour is booked

I had a long talk with Per on Monday after the L.A. Show regarding the Tempe issue and believe me, as music fans themselves they understand the ire of the fans who had made arrangements and anticipated going to the show only to have it get cancelled. They are also determined to make up the show on the next tour around February. I'd kinda like to attend that show as I'm sure they'll want to put on one hell of a performance.

Out.
