Yes, we all know how good these albums are, but my main gripe with them is the drum sound.

These albums would be so much better if that snare drum didn't sound all little and the kick drums were thicker. Especially on "The Night and the Silent Water."

I love both albums the way they are, no problem with the production.

I think its perfect the way it is, the room reverb on the snare gives it such atmosphere, it paints pictures of a desolate wasteland of nihilistic depression.

the production on those albums bothered me for a while, I thought they sounded too thin.
but i got used to it, and it sort of fits the songs, but yeah the drums would maybe make some parts more powerful

I agree with you. The snare sounds too quiet, contrast that with the ultra-crunchy snare on Deliverance and the difference really shows. I like the kick drum sound tho...snares my only complaint.

Hehe, I much prefer the sound of the snare drum on Orchid and Morningrise than on MAYH, Still Life, and BWP.

i also like the production on those albums, and i would not change them. they have more of a distant sound in them which is cool

I don't know, I guess I like big drum sounds...

Come to think of it, the drum sound on My Arms isn't as good as the last three albums either.

I think it's suitable - the drum production matches the rest of it. As stated before, it gives the albums a spacy feel, as if you're in a desolate void and you need..to..growl...

I think the production on Orchid is perfect, I LOVE the hi-hat sound on that album! But, the snare sound on Morningrise is terrible, it sounds like beating on a table with a newspaper.
