Other Bands for Theocracy Fans?

Why did Narnia split anyway?

Christian left the band in April 2008. At the time, he just said he needed to take a long break.

After putting out one incredible album with new vocalist Germán Pascual, they disbanded completely earlier this year.

I am mega bummed, because I felt like the new album was a fresh change of direction and really reinvigorated their sound. Now I'll never have a chance to see them live :erk:

:cry: Don't remind me of this. XD.

Blehhh, black metal. Music's good, can't stand the black metal "scream" as it's more of a rasp.

I get what you mean, M@RS. That was the major turnoff for me for quite a long time; I definitely got over it, though. I'd rather listen to black metal vocals than death growls now.

I've been listening to some Dragonforce and yeah anything after Inhuman Rampage is pretty much trash :(

BUT... try "Valley of The Damned" (their first CD) because it has quite a few tunes that aren't as exxaderated as their newer stuff. Also for all you people out there... don't go buy their new live album... it is terrible :( And why you might ask? The guitar work is so messy in MANY songs. The only songs they did well on are Valley of The Damned, Soldiers of The Wasteland, and Where Dragons Rule. And for those who are offended by cursing... haha! This is definately not your album. ZP Theart lets out the F bomb in the intro of practically every song. I'm not a big fan of it... but hey.

So yeah don't get the album. I'm not getting it because, after listening to it, I can see it's poor quality. The first song has obvious MISTAKES in it. Why didn't they do overdubs? They were a little too confident here... Hahaha!

But hey... go try their OLDER stuff. I mean their first two albums. You won't be disappointed.

I'm probably going to get rid of the Dragonforce on my iPod, just because I never listen to it and it's a little embarrassing. I'll do that as soon as Symphony X's Paradise Lost comes in the mail. Dang Amazon, with your slow delivery times...

Geez...so he curses a lot, so what?

Some people get offended by it... Not specifically me as I said. Too much for me is like "ugh..." but just a lil "ahh who cares?" but yeah that isn't the main problem with this CD... it has to be the poor quality on certain songs. and "Ultra Letdown" for me.

I'm personally getting stoked about the new Classic Petra release coming up real soon now:

This is the 'Beat the System' era lineup with Hartman, Volz, Kelly, Lawry and Weaver. They were my first intro to Christian rock back in the day (yeah, I'm pretty much a fossil)...one of the reasons I like Theocracy so much is that they remind me just a little (music-wise and lyrically) of Petra. Their first album coming out consists of some of their best songs re-recorded with modern-day production and sound, along with a ton more musical experience. It should be awesome.

Ah, Dragonforce. Utterly ridiculous, but fun band - in small doses. Not the sort of thing I'd want to listen to on a daily basis. I haven't heard anything past the first to albums though.

Very good album. Not as good as Divine Wings or The Odyssey, but excellent nonetheless. The Walls of Babylon and Revelation are two of the best Symphony X songs ever.

Agreed about Dragonforce. Also agreed about Symphony X. PL may not be as solid as DWoT, The Odyssey, or TiO, but it is still an epic masterpiece. Revelation tends to get played a lot for me.

I was listening to V in the car going to and from work today. I like it a lot too. Evolution (The Grand Design), Fallen, Communion and the Oracle, and Egypt are among their greatest songs. The latter portion of the album drags a little bit for me, though am I rather fond of the final track.

Twilight in Olympus is not their best, but it's a solid album. It has some strong moments, but much of it is kind of middle of the road for a band of this caliber. It's best is Lady of the Snow IMO ..... really cool, haunting, amazing song. LOVE the guitar solo on it. Through the Looking Glass is great too - though I prefer the live version.

The final track of V is probably my favorite SX song. Other greats from that album for me are A Fool's Paradise, Absence Of Light, Communion..., Egypt, and Evolution. Not a big fan of Fallen...
Lady Of The Snow, IMO, is the weakest track on Olympus next to Sonata. Church of the Machine is its best for me.

Silent Lapse plays prog metal. Their first album, "Birthright" is free to download from their website here. I love it. Great music, great vocalist, ahhh...

So I tried to download it... the high-res was going to take a good two hours, so I tried the low-res. It got done, but tracks 5 and 6 didn't download because the files are "corrupted". Help? :(

Man, I really want Paradise Lost to get here soon. But stupid Amazon's stupid long delivery times won't let me! It says it'll be here anywhere between last thursday and two weeks from then. :erk: :hotjump:
