I'm on my very first listen right now. It's not what I expected but it's quite good IMO. Hell, Alder could sing a calculus textbook and I'd be happy.
It was $6 at Laser's Edge. Too good to pass up.

Actually was a hard sell for Hawk since neither him or I care much for Alder as a singer , but what I heard from Redemption worth the expense.

Laser's Edge has sometimes great deals, and that one seems one indeed. I have to check them more often.

Correct! I could not stand Alder on the first few Fates Warning albums. Perhaps I could not value him objectively because he "replaced" what I consider to be one of the greatest singers in metal John Arch. :)

I know, not very honest perhaps but thats how it worked back in the day. I had the same problem accepting Bruce Dickinson when he replaced Paul Diannio. Btw I consider Bruce at this moment to be a better vocalist than he has ever been before. And certainly a much versatile vocalist than Paul ever was.

But back to Ray Alder; he totally surprised me with his high quality vocals on this album. He simply sounds fantastic! I think He does it by *not* doing what John Arch is doing supremely *IMHO* and that is reaching for those high notes.

But to talk just of Alder would not do this album justice. The whole band is damn good. And I can recommend it to anyone who is into progressive metal even just a little bit!

I checked the clearance section on a whim. The Mag 9 was $10.50 and November's Doom was $7. The Symphorce made up for it all at $21 though. Ken Golden is a good guy and he'll be getting my business from here on out since The End's shipping has gone to crap.

I understand. Not that it's the same thing but I got into them with "No Exit" and it took me a bit to get used to Arch. Now I like them both a lot.

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Completely agree!

I just got done with my third listen and I'm totally infatuated with this disc.

Uhhhm, wellllll, to be completely honest, I've got a few stories to tell as it is and would rather bypass an ass kicking to get another story. I'm like old and stuff and it takes longer to heal. :) My real fear would be getting some teeth knocked out, developing a speech impediment and not being able to tell the really cool story that I got my ass kicked for.

Neither John Arch for that matter  I'm not into FW :D

I shouldn't talk about LE, I went there and already thrown $57.60, damn compulsive buyer!

What happened with The End? I hadn't shop there in a while since they carry all stuff I want later than CDUniverse (when they usually had the stuff before everybody else).

Ooops! I feel like an accomplice. :D

They changed their shipping from USPS to DHL. I used to get my order from them in two days, three at most. The last order took about 10 days. Granted, for free shipping I shouldn't complain, but when I order something I get impatient. :) The LE order took two days -- they shipped it on a Friday and I had it the following Monday.

Yes TER used to ship from CA to NV in just 2 days, then they moved to UT and took 3-4 days, now is over 9 days to FL!

The other incoherence is that LE ships to Costa Rica cheaper than CD Universe to FL for the same amount of CDs :err:

Anyway, I love to buy online, no hassle, no walking, no annoying employees, no pop on the speakers :D

I don't know what it is - I've tried - but I also got into Fates Warning when I heard No Exit (although I had heard some of ATG previously), and I STILL don't like Arch!! I just can't get into him.

I've been waiting for the Redemption album, but I had no idea the release date had passed! I will be ordering it this weekend, along with new Flotsam, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, and Yngwie, which are all coming out on Tuesday.

I can't believe how good the new Pagan's Mind is. Will most likely make my top 3 albums of this year.

Well, different strokes for different folks. :)

Same here. I am in total awe! I am recommending the hell out of this album when I notice people have not heard it yet. Tis a good year for metal!!

Yeah, no pop is the biggie. I tend to make my own elevator music when I go shopping online. ;)

I know lots of people that are the same way. You are definitely not alone in that.

Both the Redemption and Nevermore are quite good, IMO. I am not much of a Nevermore fan but the new one has grown on me rather quickly.

The new PM just hasn't clicked that well with me. I've put it away for a while and gone back to it and still nothing. Dunno.

:OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: have you heard "Twist of Fate"?!?!?!? IMO John is a Vocal God!!! .... but as Hawk stated Different Strokes for Different Folks

Yeah dude, like I said, I've tried...many times. I even sat down with the headphones, the lyrics, and the remastered Awaken the Guardian the other night. Some of the stuff is cool, but for the most part, nothing....

I do like Twist of Fate!

Well yeah, I used to go shopping with my walkman always. But the fact that I don't have to move from my home to shop, and the merchandise get to my hands, is a big thumbs up for the concept of online shopping IMO.

Found a few cd's today....

Savatage - "Streets" A Rock Opera
Savatage - Dead Winter Dead
Scorpions - Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years
Sodom - In The Sign Of Evil
Vixen - Vixen

I was never into Savatage back in the day but I've seen alot of you guys talk about them so I thought I'd give them a shot.
