I got word from a friend of mine that this rapper who is pretty well known is looking for a drummer and a guitarist for his "group". He wants a more organic live feel now. My friend who drums talked to him and he is really interested in hearing me and seeing how we all groove. Well... how do you play hip hop guitar? lol. Tips are much appreciated. :loco:

do they mean cypress hill, ratm, limp bizkit, the roots, aerosmith+rundmc or n.e.r.d. kind of approach with rap+guitar?

But in general my idea of rap guitars is pretty much similiar to reggae/funk; 2-3 riffs that are repeated over and over again, usually pretty clean and plucked style, like this:

For example Swiss Beats did the one song from one Metallica song off St. Anger (I think it was "some kind of monster") and it pretty much used that repetition formula. The fun part is the negrophobia from the white guys in the making of video. And the song totally sucks.

Can't forget the first rap/rock song

Love the guitar in this BTW, it compliments the song so nicely
