Recabinet

Haha, sorry about those... it's on my list of open items though...

I need to do some testing to make absolutely certain no hosts on the Mac panic without these files. You'd be surprised how important resource fork information can be with audio apps on the Mac that have ties back to the Classic Mac OS (such as Altiverb.)

If they are necessary, I may provide separate Mac and PC downloads so that you don't have to deal with that annoyance.

I've noticed with my memory stick that they are usually regenerated by OSX if you delete them.

Shane, prolly a stupid question...
What is the Demo limited to? Just the amount of files? Can we use the Demo impulses without restriction/e.g. on projects?

Do whatever you want as far as projects with the demo impulses, no restrictions other than that you can't distribute the Recabinet demo itself - just send your friends to the Recabinet site if you want them to check it out.

The Recabinet demo has 32 impulses. The full commercial version of Recabinet launching on Tuesday has 450 impulses. That is the only difference.

new version sounds great, and the volume differences going from Boogex to SIR are gone...Sounds great, really does.

What cab is the Ghandi 4x12 modeling? I can't find if you've stated that in the past...Anywho, here's a clip. I used this track to compare my miked tones with the recabinet stuff. When I recorded, I took a line out to test with this stuff in addition to my miked tones...Gets pretty close.

here's the recabinet version:

And, the original miked version:

EDIT

This is the Ghandi 4x12 here.

They are mastered different, so it's not a great comparison, but you can get the idea of the difference in miked vs. recab'd tones.

OK...

I've been downloading and trying out each demo version of ReCabinet, and I've been really dissatisfied with the sound, that is until version 1.02. What the hell did you do??? The impulses now sound amazing.

It's literally a world of difference.

I just went from thinking these impulses were worthless to me, to them being invaluable to my work. Kazrok, amazing work whatever you're doing. Just make sure the final product impulses are right, like what you did to the 1.02 impulses.

I am a bit worried since you're doing this much work at this stage in the game right before the product is released to the public. I'm wondering if whatever you're figuring out is going to continue to evolve??? Clue us in as to what's going on please.

Wow, that is some amazing feedback. Thanks!

Sorry for any confusion here, but the issue is pretty simple. I developed Recabinet using Altiverb as the development environment. Getting them to sound the same in other applications has been an issue - until now. Finally the playing field is level.

Rest assured, the changes I made to the 1.02 demo have been made to the rest of the product's impulses (450 total.) I don't forsee any updates to the format. Future updates will simply be adding more cabinet impulses, and I may be adding AxeFX-friendly versions of the impulses soon as well.

Wow, that sounds amazing! :headbang:

The Damien cabinet is a Marshall 1936 2x12.

PS - Emprodukt - your clip is awesome too!!!

Don't worry guys, anything Shane does will do nothing but improve on what already kicked ass IMHO.

I can tell you that everything that sucks about my guitarsound has nothing to do with your impulses :) they give some kind of warmth that other impulses don't. I'm using them with boogex or sir2 but to be true I can't hear too much difference between those two.

I guess that was posted allready somewhere... but what is the difference between your and other impulses?

I run a test of the Recab 1.02 demo too. It's not as good as the ones posted previously, but thats only kuz Ima actually an awful mixer and crappy guitar player

Anyway, used the Ghandi impulses.

Man, I actually think this is great, and your style is very unique. This is some seriously tight playing and some crazy math going on!!! :headbang::kickass:

What preamp or ampsim did you use?

Mainly that I've done a lot of research and development, and arrived at some techniques that are now my trade secrets. I've also had some help from some great people who are thanked on my links page.

I was going for a grainy/dirty/overgained tone but I have no idea if it sounds useful or not

I fucked up the "mastering" but you get the idea, I'm too lazy (and drunk!) to fix this tone test after all :kickass:

Wow, that sounds badass!! I don't think it's overgained actually, I think it's perfect honestly. This is very impressive, I would never guess that it's not a miked up cabinet.

What's the preamp here, and which IR's from the demo did you use? Thanks! :headbang:

Yeah man that's quite impressive. Nice work there. Is this with the 1.02 version?

That sort of quality is what I've been praying to hear from impulses for ages now.
